Will you join us tomorrow for the public work session on homelessness? Our city leaders will meet with local organizations to discuss possible solutions for homelessness in our city at the Sloan Convention Center at 4:30.

The public will not be able to speak at this meeting, but it's important to be in the room where potential decisions could be made. You don't have to go alone! We'll meet in front of the convention center and go in together. 🥰

We pull through hard times by pulling together, and we know this requires joining together to demand that everyone has the care that they need – including access to a safe, affordable home.

We need you to send an email by July 13 to [email protected] telling the Board of Commissioners what we value as Bowling Green citizens and about the solutions we need to address homelessness.

Some solutions we have offered:
1. City officials and staff should make community wide goals and be invested in the work to end homelessness and create affordable housing options in partnership with directly impacted individuals and nonprofits.

2. Create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that prioritizes workforce housing and extremely low income rental housing.

3. Housing choice vouchers should give tenants their choice in the housing option that works best for their family. No one should be discriminated against for paying their rent with section 8. All landlords should accept rental assistance as a valid payment.

And save the date! We want you to join us on July 22 at 4:30 PM at the Sloan Convention Center. The Mayor, City Commissioners, and local organizations will gather for a public work session on housing and homelessness.
