And that’s a wrap on our annual Touch Grass Challenge at Frost Call! Themed after the classic game “Oregon Trail,” this year our participants voted on choices in the journey while going outside and logging as much movement as we could. We started our 2,160 mile trek fording a major river. We also had an incredible meetup at Castle Island to recharge and connect. The following week, we all got Dysentery and one of our challengers succumbed to illness. In week 3, we nearly starved after an unsuccessful hunting effort before buckling down and pushing through the last days of the month with a solid 5-hour hike. And here we are:

AMAZING, congratulations to team “Sinning and Winning” and our member Kris for logging the most miles! All of our participants get a free patch and winners also get a free Frost Call t-shirt. A huge thank you to the New England Center and Home for Veterans for inviting us to share our deployable gaming kits with their veterans. We are so grateful to collaborate with others in supporting veterans to find community and camaraderie while chatting with others and playing some games. We also could not have done this work without our incredible volunteers. We brought laughs and joy, and that’s really what is is all about.

Morale patches incoming! Thanks to the incredible Blake Ink for designing this patch to celebrate our participants in the 2026 campaign. Our community is on the move to collect mileage towards completion of the Oregon Trail. We have teams, we have fording the river, we have bonus challenges, but we do not YET have dysentery. But we have also just reached the grueling, arid stretches of Wyoming and the approach to the Continental Divide. And with that sickness is spreading. Our community will vote on losing mileage from all members or losing a single party member’s contribution. What will we do!? Follow along here and at www.frostcall.org/discord to learn more.

As we devote this day to remembrance of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, we at Frost Call ask that you reflect on the phrase "in the line of duty." For some, this could be a loss of life during combat or a military training exercise. But for others, this could include a loss by su***de from wounds that were never fully visible to friends and loved ones. This Memorial Day, we reflect on the enormous sacrifices made by our service members, including over 30,000 post-9/11 service members and veterans who have died by su***de. They will never be forgotten.

If you are a veteran, you've likely heard this before, but don't forget that there are resources if you are struggling. You can contact the Vet Crisis Line at 988 (1 for vets) and at https://www.veteranscrisisline.net/. Frost Call is so grateful to all of our community partners, and we want to extend our gratitude to for helping us to launch our South Shore Tabletop program. Mox is a Veteran owned and operated game shop that offers a third space to folks in New Bedford. Thank you to Tim and Eric for the start of an excellent collaborative relationship. In recognition of the Month of the Military Child, Frost Call recently partnered with Blue Star Families and the New England Patriots Foundation to bring military families together for a night of fun, food, and gaming. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this night such a success, including a visit from Patriots players Mehki Butler and Sebastian Gutierrez. Thank you to WCVB5 for highlighting this amazing event!
