Families Helping Families Region 7 is a network of families who, because of their experiences have become committed to reaching out to individuals with disabilities and their families. Our mission is to assist and strengthen individuals and families through a parent driven, coordinated network of services. We provide peer to peer support, and trainings on disabilities topics as well as special edu

cation topics to parents, professionals, and our community partners. Caring for individuals with disabilities takes a wealth of support, knowledge and information. Connecting with others who have similar experiences gives families first-hand information and encouragement. Families Helping Families Region 7 serves the following parishes of Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, Desoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, and Webster. All of Families Helping Families Region 7 services are FREE of charge.

FAQ Friday: What if I have a child with special needs?

Estate planning is especially important for families with special needs children. In Louisiana, a child with special needs may qualify as a forced heir, and careful planning can help protect their future while preserving eligibility for certain benefits. Special Needs Trusts are one tool that may help provide long-term financial support and peace of mind.
