This morning at approximately 0321 hours, L74, E71, and C71 A-turn crews were dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in the 7800 block of South Avenue. L74 arrived on scene and reported nothing showing from the outside. While gaining entry into the building, L74 crews noticed smoke in the interior of the structure and upgraded the call to a working fire, adding E73, M71, Canfield, Poland and Youngstown units. L74 and E71 began an aggressive interior attack bringing the fire under control. A primary search revealed that no occupants were in the building. Crews remained on scene to rid the building of smoke, and The Boardman FD Fire Investigation Unit was called out to investigate the cause of the fire. The fire is still under investigation at the time of this posting. Thanks to the building’s sprinkler system as well as strong work from your Boardman Professional Firefighters, the building suffered little structural damage. Most units were clear after approximately 2 hours. L74 and the FIU operated for approximately 4 hours.

Each year at The Canfield Fair, fire departments take turns providing fire protection at the fairgrounds. Today, your Boardman Professional Firefighters are out at the fair protecting lives and property. If you see these guys, make sure to say hello! They can be found posted next to the grandstands near the EMS building. Everyone enjoy their day at the fair!

Great work to our pals over at the Boardman PD!

PRESS RELEASE: August 31, 2026

The Boardman Township Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) executed a search warrant this morning at a residence located at 86 Ferncliff Avenue following an ongoing drug investigation. During the search, Boardman Township Police officers located and seized the following items:

• 330 grams of suspected methamphetamine
• 50 grams of suspected crack co***ne
• 36 grams of an unknown powder, suspected to be he**in, fentanyl, or co***ne
• $27,126 in U.S. currency
• One Kahr Arms 9mm pistol and ammunition
• Several items of drug paraphernalia, and money counter

At the time of the search, NAKYIA PARKER (50) was located at the residence and was found to be currently on parole through the State of Ohio. PARKER was subsequently placed into custody by the Adult Parole Authority and transported to the Mahoning County Jail.

Additional criminal charges related to today’s search are anticipated following laboratory analysis of the seized items

At 1012 hours Command 71 responded to the 6900 block of Lockwood Blvd for a stray cat stuck behind a work bench inside a garage. Command 71 helped free the cat. If anyone knows who the cat belongs to, please call dispatch at (330) 726-4144

Yesterday between 1851 and 1924 hours, your Boardman Professional Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on I680, a fire investigation in the 1400 block of Boardman-Canfield Rd, and a reported structure fire in the 1300 block of Boardman-Poland Rd. A manpower callout was sent and off duty crews reported to the station. Thank you to our mutual aid partners at Western Reserve Joint Fire District.

BFD NABS HOME INTRUDER

Last night at approximately 0034 hours, Engine 71 was dispatched to a UFO (Unwanted Flying Object) inside of a residence. Upon arrival, the UFO had forced residence outside the home. Upon entry, the UFO was identified as a medium sized bat. After approximately 7-10 minutes of flight, the bat was grounded by firefighters. He was then safely removed from the residence, with no injuries besides his ego.
