LAST CALL – National Park Outing This Weekend!!

Our own Ohio Chapter Sierra Club Outing in and around the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Peninsula is this weekend, September 25 to 27. As this is written, it looks as if we’ll have good weather! Things begin just after noon Friday, and go to noon Sunday.

There are various activities, and you can pick and choose: Hiking, Kayaking, River clean-up, Winking Lizard dinner, Hilltop Shelter catered supper, Fisher Restaurant breakfast, introduction to the history of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park by a Park Ranger.

We won’t publicize things for every group in our area, . . . but we hope you keep up with and participate with others

This Wednesday at 6 pm and 6:30, the Twinsburg Native Habitat Association hosts the screening of Jeff McKay’s film “The Extraordinary Caterpillar.” It happens at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 10285 Ravenna Rd in Twinsburg. That church planted a native “meadow” behind their parking lot a few years ago, . . . and they’ll show that off to you and others at 6 pm, before heading into the church building for the 6:30 pm film. You and your friends are welcome.

The Roadless Rule is Being Threatened
The U.S. Forest Service has proposed rescinding the Roadless Rule, and there is now a Draft Environmental Impact Statement comment period open.

The Roadless Rule was established as a policy in 2001, and protects the wildest forests across 39 states in the U.S.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced a 30-day comment period that opened August 18 and will run through September 21, 2026. Personal comments are most impactful. Submit an official comment before September 21!

We had a GREAT time at our annual picnic last week. The rain cooperated by staying away until the end. It was great to meet in person, share food, tell stories, and share our thoughts and concerns about the environment.
