Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy

Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy preserves open space in Bloomfield, East Granby, West Hartford, and Windsor, Connecticut.

The East Granby Land Trust (EGLT) is a private, non-governmental, non-profit organization incorporated in 1974 for the purpose of conserving the natural resources and unique features of East Granby . EGLT currently owns land parcels comprising over 264 acres that are open to the public for passive recreational activity including hiking, photography and nature study. We depend solely on members and

volunteers from the community for support. In March 2023 we entered into an agreement to form the Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy by merging with West Hartford Land Trust and Wintonbury Land Trust (more to follow). Please consider donating your time or becoming a member. Visit us at www.eglt.org or like us on Facebook for more information.

Please join us in exploring the Mill Brook Open Space, a 95-acre parcel in Windsor that is part of the Mill Brook Greenway. This hike, led by master naturalist Brad Robinson, will follow the woods, meadows, and trails. Stops will be made to note native species and invasives. Many areas are being ‘rewilded’ allowing plants and wildlife to flourish. Birds are abundant.

Moderate terrain with some rolling hills. It is easy to break off at any point and return to the starting point. Leashed dogs permitted. No rain date.

We will meet in the parking lot at 2:00 pm.

This week I had the honor of presenting the Organization of the Year Award to Shipman and Goodwin LLP at the ProBono Partnership Volunteer of the Year Event. I was so happy to present this award because Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy could not keep moving forward with conservation work without the help of generous attorneys and law firms like Shipman and Goodwin. Pictured with me are two people who have been instrumental in our success. Sara Taylor, Senior Staff Attorney at ProBono Partnerships and Tyler Archer, Attorney at Shipman and Goodwin. Sara helps TRLC find legal council and Tyler Archer has said yes over and over to assisting with easements, lease agreements and acquisitions. ProBono Partnerships and Shipman and Goodwin can share in the proud legacy of land protection. It takes a whole community to keep protecting the land we love and it also takes attorneys who care. Thank you to Sara and Tyler for their generosity. -Amanda Thompson, President TRLC
