We had a blast with 1st graders from Cumru Elementary and Mifflin Park Elementary as they visited Rock Hollow Woods these past two weeks to learn about animal adaptations and explore the great outdoors. ☀️🦌🦉💚

🎃 October Nature Club Wrapped Up with Pumpkin Power! 🎃

We finished out the month of October with maximum fall energy and a whole lot of hands-on learning! Here’s a look at how our young explorers celebrated:

What Time Is It, Mr. Pumpkin? — A festive twist on the classic game that kept everyone moving, laughing, and dodging the giant pumpkin!

The Great Pumpkin Roll — We took science outdoors to explore physics, gravity, and incline angles as our pumpkins went rolling down the slopes.

5 Little Pumpkins Engineering Challenge — Putting STEM skills to the test, adventurers designed and built their very own custom gates to keep five little pumpkins sitting perched and balanced.

October was scary fun, but the autumn adventures aren't over yet. We hope you'll join us for more outdoor discovery in November! 🍂

We had a spook-tacular morning during our Fall Family Fun Day! We stopped at several places along the colorful autumn trails to listen to ‘scary’ tales shared by Deborah Pieri. Afterwards, we relaxed in the fire-lit stone pavilion to carve pumpkins and make Halloween crafts. Thanks to everyone for a fun day! 🎃

And one more shout out to Levengood's Flowers
for donating the perfect pumpkins to carve!! 🧡

“Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination. Take a look and you’ll see into your imagination.” 🎶

This week the Little Acorns practiced using one of their strongest skills - their imagination! We read “Not a stick” 🪾and “Not a Box”📦 and had such a fun time being creative during free play. Embracing boredom and creating your own means of fun is an incredible skill set that these kiddos have developed. 💚

You would not be-LEAF the fun we had this week at Nature Pre-K! 🍁 🍂 With blankets of colorful leaves on the ground, we couldn’t help but incorporate them into our learning. Did you know that leaves can have parts that sound like ours? Teeth, lobes, and veins! 🦷 👂🍃Our little adventurers expanded their vocabulary as they learned about photosynthesis and chlorophyll. 🧠 Of course we had to enjoy a few leaf-tossing parties and make a beautiful pumpkin craft. It was a wonderful week to celebrate one of our adventurer’s 5th birthday too! 🖐️ 🎉

Today at Rock Hollow Woods, our Homeschool Happenings group enjoyed a super-sunshiny day of fun and exploration! As they continued their study of the plant kingdom, they focused on a favorite seasonal plant that isn’t usually found in the woods…pumpkins! 🎃 In addition to cutting, scooping, and pounding, they estimated, weighed, and measured circumference.

Between all that “heavy brain work,” they completed a team balance challenge, played gaga, and had a blast just running around, playing hide and seek, climbing trees, and best of all, making new friends! “I love this place!” 💚🌱💚

🍂 Spooky October Explorations Continue! 🎃🦴
Our Nature Club kept the October spooktacular vibes going this week with a deep dive into the fascinating world of skeletons!

Here is what our brave young explorers got up to:

🦴 Human Skeleton Fun: We built and learned all about the human skeleton, discovering how our bones work together to keep us moving!

🐾 Animal Skeletal Mysteries: We examined and explored different animal skeletons to see how different creatures are built.

🍁 Autumn Playtime: Of course, we couldn't resist making plenty of time to run around and play in this perfect fall weather!

It was the ultimate mix of learning, spooky science, and outdoor fun. Stay tuned for what our Nature Club explores next!
