Fairchild's mission is to improve the lives of feral and stray cats in Berks county through TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return).

We have a low-cost clinic once a month to help the community control the cat population. The reality is Feral Cats exist in every community. Feral cats are NOT socialized to humans and can't be adopted into homes-taking them to a shelter is a death sentence. Animal control's catch and kill method is cruel and doesn't work! It costs approximately $100 to capture, board and eventually kill a homeless animal, which costs more than a spay or neuter! The cost of TNR versus trap and remove can be estimated using this tool:

Feral Cats do not contract disease at any higher rate that owned cats and do NOT deplete wildlife-HUMANS do by destroying habitats and pollution. Feeding bans don't stop cats from "multiplying" either; only neutering does! Therefore, if you feed stray cats, you must take it the next step and participate in Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR).

Happy National Cat Day! Every cat has their own personality, from skittish cuddle bugs to self-anointed royalty that run the house from their cardboard box, but always precious in their own way. That’s part of their charm, isn’t it?

Just for fun, visit purrjung.org to take their purrrsonality quiz inspired by actual feline personality research! And of course, if you ever have questions about your cat’s health or behavior, give us a call - we’re always happy to help.

October is National Pet Wellness Month and a great reminder to check in on your pet's overall health. Pay special attention to nutrition, exercise, year-round protection, and mental stimulation, as they all play an important role in your pet's well-being.

Even if your pet seems fine, everyday activities can expose them to parasites and disease. Year-round protection helps reduce those risks and can prevent more serious health problems down the road. If you'd like personalized guidance for your pet's unique needs, you're always welcome to schedule a wellness visit at our clinic.
