Today was a mushroom day at Story Hour 🍄 We read “On a Mushroom Day”, learned about different types of mushrooms, and how it’s important to not eat just any mushroom! We made fairy and gnome houses that look like amanita (do not eat!) and spore prints using portobellos 🍄‍🟫 We had lots of fun hike through the woods looking for mushrooms and even found some real turkey tail!

We have two programs coming up next week!
On Monday, we are reading “On a Mushroom Hunt” for Story Hour (ages 18 months - 4 years) and on Thursday evening, we are hosting Embroidery 101 for Teens and Adults.

Next week at Story Hour, we are reading "Oscar the (almost) Butterfly" by Peter Elwell. Oscar is a caterpillar who learns that one day he will grow wings like his friend, Bob, from Mexico. His friends don't believe him but he sets out to prove them wrong!
Story Hour is an hour long program for ages 18 months to 1 year. Children participate in age appropriate activities that promote early literacy development.

We had some vultures stop by to sun themselves this morning!
Vultures spread their wings like that not to be scary but regulate their body temperatures. With the bitter cold finally gone, they are soaking up the sun and I can’t blame them!

Yesterday, Miss Molly packed up her wagon and brought CHH to these homeschoolers! The Homestead Scientist is one of our “field trip” options, which is great for co-ops.
These homeschoolers learned about states of matter while using everyday items from the kitchen!
