Binghamton Food Rescue is a non-profit organization located in Binghamton, New York. Happy Tuesday!

We would like to thank Good Neighbors for connecting us w bread, sweets, and dry goods every Saturday from local stores and restaurants!

At BFR we believe it is very important to say NO to food heirarchy! No food is "good" or "bad"; different foods just do different things for your body 😁

We are very happy to be able to provide fun foods like pastries and cakes with the help of Good Neighbors! 😍 Check them out!

Happy first post of the year!
We would like to spotlight Norwich Meadows Farm for their continued support in providing gorgeous fresh produce to our weekly free grocery distribution!

They unfortuantely had a devastating fire at their farm this December. We have included the link to their GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/36cc50342 Support local farmers, especially ones that support community ❤️Thank you again!

We know anxiety is high because of the SNAP cuts so we wanted to share some good news regarding it:

Know that there is community out there, and there are many places to get help with food in the area. BFR is one of many and we are thankful to help. We are a small, volunteer-based organization that depends on community as much as people depend on us 🩷

New York is shelling out $30 million in emergency food assistance, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced this week, with federal SNAP benefits set to dry up Saturday amid the historic government shutdown. It would be the first time in U.S. history that a federal administration has stopped food assistance duri...

We're at 30 Main St every Saturday with rescued and donated groceries for anyone who needs some food. We start at 1:30pm but make sure to grab a ticket at the door beforehand.

NoMa Community Center provides a free hot meal at 12:30 every Saturday in the same location.

Thank you to all organizations and businesses that continue to help us feed our community. There truly is enough for all of us.

If you have any time, monetary donations, or food donations, don't hesitate to reach out.

We persist in the face of it all, especially if we persist together.

See you Saturday.

Due to the wild hail storm of last week, we at BFR were worried we would not be able to provide produce at our Saturday distribution. We are wishing local farmers and the farmers market a swift recovery!

Thank you to Good Neighbors for rescuing produce and coming in clutch this weekend! They always help with other groceries to distribute but Krista was especially helpful this past Saturday 😊 Food waste is a massive issue but when we work together, we can combat that even better 👊

See you next Saturday!

Ezra (she/her) has been a regular volunteer for close to 4 years now. Thank you for all your help, Ezra!

And here’s a little something she wanted to share! 🩷
“There’s a Katseye song called my way and they start the chorus with, ’even if I mess it all up and make a million mistakes, at least I can say that I did it my way.’ It's a line I sing to myself sometimes to remind myself that no matter what I’m going through and no matter what obstacles I come across, I’m living life the way I want to and continuing to be unapologetically me despite societal expectations.” We love everything that makes you you, Ezra!

We had an awesome time tabling at PM Press Binghamton's May Day event yesterday!

"May Day: a day commemorating the historic struggles and gains made by workers and the labour movement." We still got a long way to go folks 💪

Hiya 👋 The dilemma with reusable grocery bags is that we often forget them, buy a new one at the store, and end up collecting them 😅 If this sounds like you, or you have a surplus for whatever other reason, consider giving them to BFR for folks to use for our distribution!

We always have paper bags for our distribution but reusable bags are far more convenient for folks.

Shoot us a message or drop them off any time between 11:30am-3pm Saturdays at 30 Main St.
Thanks!

With the help of organizations like Good Neighbors and the local farmers market, we are able to distribute food every single Saturday at 30 Main St (enter on Front St) at 1:30-2:30pm!

We'd like to make the clarification that we are NOT a pantry as we do not keep things in stock; what we get donated and what we rescue every Saturday is given out during distribution: what isn't gone by the end of our distribution is sent around to various community boxes! So make sure to come at 1:30pm to be able to get all we offer 😊
