Lee Barta Memorial Golf Tournament This page is for the "Lee Barta Memorial Golf Tournament" directed by his son Officer Daniel Barta to raise money for scholarships at 2 local high schools .

Officer Barta was killed in the line of duty on August 3, 1995 while attempting to apprehend a fugitive from justice. Each year, in memory of Officer Barta, the “Patrolman Lee Barta Memorial Golf Tournament” is held with proceeds going to scholarship funds at Union Endicott High School and Binghamton High School. The scholarships are proudly presented to local students entering the field of law enforcement.

After 24 years we will be cancelling the 25th Annual Lee Barta Memorial Golf Tournament for 2020.
As many of you know, our proceeds are generated by small businesses and the local economy, as we watch small local businesses struggle to adjust to the state guidelines due to COVID-19 and try to survive through this unprecedented challenge, we do not feel comfortable or right asking for donations from any businesses.
We are thankful for the many years of support given to the Lee Barta Memorial to fund the scholarships. As a thank you we are focusing on buying local and supporting these businesses that have taken such great care of us over the years.
Currently we are working on another event to help raise money for the scholarship in the future! Keep and eye on this page for more information.
