Last week, our Reality Check youth were busy taking action for Take Down To***co Day right here in Binghamton! 💪🚭

Youth led a to***co litter cleanup, working alongside the Broome County Sheriff's Office Community Engagement officer to help keep our community clean and raise awareness about the environmental impact of to***co waste.

After the cleanup, the group gathered at Crowbar Arcade to celebrate their newly adopted comprehensive smoke-free policy, protecting both patrons and staff from secondhand smoke. 👏

This work is about more than picking up litter; it’s about standing up to the to***co industry, supporting healthier spaces, and making a real difference locally.

A big thank you to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and Crowbar Arcade for partnering with our youth and supporting a healthier Broome County!

In recent years, ni****ne pouches have contributed to high rates of youth use due to the high ni****ne concentrations, youth-appealing flavors, added sweeteners, and marketing tactics aimed heavily at young people.

It is essential that these highly addictive products do not hook another generation of youth on ni****ne.

Fun Fact Friday: Did you know that some disposable vapes can contain as much ni****ne as 29.5 packs of ci******es? Ni****ne concentrations vary based on the manufacturer and product type.

Let's break this down:

For example, an Elf Bar has 50mg of ni****ne per milliliter (mL).

With an average of 13 mL of e-liquid per device, there is approximately 650mg of ni****ne in each Elf Bar.

High ni****ne concentrations hook consumers more readily, can cause worse withdrawal symptoms and cases of accidental ni****ne poisoning have been reported.
