Today at our Parkinson Hero Walk in Grand Rapids, Parkinson and Care Partner Honorees, Dan and Ginny De Witt shared their beautiful words of wisdom about their journeys with Parkinson’s and caregiving. A big thank you to both of them for getting up and inspiring our West Michigan community this morning! 💙🩵

Co-hosted by Michigan Parkinson Foundation and the Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Neurology, the Sastry Parkinson’s Disease Education Symposium: Bridging Science and Support will bring together medical experts, caregivers and community resources to share trusted information and practical guidance for navigating Parkinson’s.

Designed for people living with Parkinson’s, care partners and healthcare professionals, the program will feature:

• Parkinson’s myths and facts
• Guidance for navigating specialized care
• A caregiver and medical expert panel
• Michigan Parkinson Foundation programs and resources

Healthcare professionals are eligible to earn CME credits. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

This week, MPF was honored to host our Second Annual Movement Disorder Specialist Dinner (MDS) in Grand Rapids! We welcomed 20 healthcare professionals from West Michigan to learn more about our programs and services, engage in meaningful dialogue, and discuss the future of Parkinson's care.

With over 40,000 neurologists in the United States, only 660 are specialized in Movement Disorders like Parkinson's. We created the MDS Dinners to help address this gap. These gatherings, led by Julia Wall, are designed to introduce medical students and residents to the field while fostering mentorship and meaningful dialogue with experienced Movement Disorder Specialists.

Through continued investment in education and mentorship, MPF is helping build the next generation of specialists and expand access to Parkinson’s care across Michigan.
