When someone survives a violent crime, the pain doesn't stop with them. It moves through their family. It stays with the first responders who were there. Too often, each of them heals alone.

On September 5, we're changing that β€” a free healing program at the Charles H. Wright Museum for survivors, families, and first responders, together.

We keep it free through sponsors. From $100 to $2,500, your business can put its name behind healing in our community β€” and be recognized in our program materials when you commit by August 21.

Detroit, let's make this happen. Message us or call (866) 954-3843 to become a sponsor. πŸ’™

Most grown-ups keep kids safe. Some don't β€” and kids are almost never told what to do about that one.

Little Reggie breaks down four rules that work no matter who the person is.

THE RULES
1. Safe grown-ups don't ask you to keep secrets from your other grown-ups. Surprises end and everybody's happy. A secret you keep forever is a red flag.
2. Safe grown-ups don't need special alone time nobody's allowed to know about.
3. Safe grown-ups don't say "you'll get in trouble" or "nobody will believe you."
4. Safe grown-ups don't ask you to break rules with them.

And the one that matters most: those rules don't change based on who the person is.

WHAT KIDS CAN DO
You never need one grown-up's permission to talk to a different grown-up. Pick three people you'd tell β€” make sure one of them doesn't live in your house. If the first one doesn't listen, go to the next one. Keep telling.

You don't have to be sure. You don't have to prove it. You just have to tell.

FOR PARENTS, CAREGIVERS, AND EDUCATORS
This short is built to be watched with a child, not instead of talking to one. It teaches behavior-based rules rather than asking kids to identify "bad adults" β€” an approach that holds up even when the person is someone close to home. Reviewed by licensed clinical partners.

RESOURCES
Michigan Children's Protective Services β€” 855-444-3911
To report suspected child abuse or neglect. Available 24/7. Anyone can make a report, including a child. Reports can be made anonymously.

Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline β€” call or text 800-422-4453
24/7 support, guidance, and referrals in 170+ languages. Childhelp is a support and referral line, not a reporting line.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911.

Summer is here, and Little Reggie is ready to help families stay safe while having fun.

In this summertime safety video, Little Reggie shares simple, kid-friendly reminders that children can use at the park, pool, playground, community center, family cookouts, and anywhere summer fun happens. This episode focuses on awareness, trusted adults, friendship, hydration, checking in, and speaking up when something does not feel right.

Little Reggie’s message is simple: have fun, stay aware, and never be afraid to ask for help.

In this video, kids will learn:

βœ… Why it is important to stay close to trusted adults
βœ… How to check in before going somewhere new
βœ… Why staying with friends is safer than wandering alone
βœ… The importance of drinking water and taking breaks
βœ… How to trust their gut when something feels wrong
βœ… Why speaking up can help keep everyone safe

Athena Protection Foundation created Little Reggie to make safety education positive, relatable, and empowering for children and families. His core message is built around practical safety steps, trusted adults, community awareness, and helping children understand that their voice matters.

This video is designed for families, educators, youth groups, summer camps, community programs, and anyone committed to keeping children safe during the summer season.

Remember:
Stay safe. Stay aware. Reggie out!

Sometimes grown-ups correct us β€” and that's part of how we learn and grow. But there's a big difference between discipline that helps you and treatment that hurts you. In this episode, Little Reggie breaks it down in a way that's calm, clear, and kid-friendly: discipline is meant to teach and keep you safe, while abuse leaves you hurt, scared, or unsafe. Most of the time, when adults set rules or consequences, that's normal and okay. But every kid deserves to feel safe β€” and if something doesn't feel right, telling a trusted adult is always the brave and right thing to do.
In this video, kids will learn:

What healthy discipline looks like (rules, consequences, teaching β€” not harm)
The signs that something has gone too far
That feeling unsafe is never your fault
How to identify trusted adults they can talk to
That speaking up is a sign of strength

This episode is part of the Little Reggie Safety Education Series from the Athena Protection Foundation, created with our trauma-informed framing and reviewed for age-appropriateness. Great for families to watch together and for classroom or community use.
