UC fooled around and found out! 👊 Healthcare, research, and technical workers across University Health Services at UC Berkeley stood up to unilateral changes to working conditions that drastically reduced work/life balance and risked disrupting continuity of student care. By taking action, we reduced the onsite mandate from 9 to 7 weeks and secured financial compensation for impacted staff.

STOP THE LAYOFFS! Members of UPTE, AFSCME 3299 , and Teamsters Local 2010 stood in solidarity with workers who were laid off en masse at UCLA Health Venice Family Clinic centers. These workers—including two UPTE members who serve unhoused and food insecure patients—are critical for individual, family, and community health. We stand together.

REVERSE THE LAYOFFS! 🔄 Just weeks after 2,100 IT workers across UC joined our union, UCLA Digital & Technology Solutions laid off 27 workers, including 10 of our newly-represented members. UCLA leaders did not provide advance notice or alternatives to layoffs in the ways required by our contract. At the same time, UCLA is $93 MILLION over budget for a tech project that is STILL incomplete after 7 years. We call on UCLA leadership to bring back these critical workers that students and faculty rely on.

GREAT NEWS: After months of pressure from UPTE members, UC Berkeley has finally added our new Floating Holiday—the one we won in our new contract—to CalTime. The Floating Holiday marks the first expansion of paid time off in a UC union contract in decades.
