ICYMI: The Music Education Initiative has officially acquired the historic Gist Music Company in downtown Helena-West Helena, Arkansas.

For decades, Gist Music Company has been a cornerstone of the Arkansas and Mississippi Delta music community—a place where musicians gathered, instruments were purchased, records were discovered, and musical dreams began.

Legends like Sonny Boy Williamson walked through its doors. Levon Helm even shared that he purchased his very first guitar at Gist when he was 14 years old.

We're honored to continue the legacy of the Gist family and grateful to everyone who has helped make this moment possible.

As featured in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, a new chapter is beginning for this historic landmark.
