The Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation The Tim and Jeannie Hamann Foundation's mission - Giving a Hand Up to patients along their journey Fighting Cancer...

How A Fundraiser Lead to a Foundation
Tim & Jeannie Hamann along with family and friends had fundraised annually for 12 years for the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” as The Hamann’s Hearts For A Cure Team. They started with a community garage sale which continued to grow year after year. In 2005, they held their 1st Annual Dinner & Auction at their home. The auction today continues to b

e the main fundraising event for the Foundation. A close friend, in her early 30’s, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. As she was struggling financially while going through treatments and continuing to work, her car became inoperable. Tim & Jeannie wanted to do something to help her, so they held a picnic in the park to raise money to help replace her car. Through a joint effort with friends and family and by reaching out to the community they successfully raised $4,000 to help replace her car. Inspired by the support and success from the small fundraiser, in the spring of 2014 Jeannie & Tim saw the need to create a 501(c)3 foundation so they could help patients directly and still donate to the American Cancer Society for research. The Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation was established. Their mission was simple and straight forward – “Giving a Hand Up to patients along their journey Fighting Cancer”. They wanted to make a difference and have a direct impact in the battle against cancer in all ages, cancer type and stage! The Foundation is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. In the months after the picnic in the park fundraiser, Jeannie, herself, was diagnosed with stage 1 triple negative breast cancer. Through Jeannie’s personal cancer journey, she was able to meet and interact with oncologists, nurses, patients, fellow warriors, and fighters which gave a whole new resource to those needing assistance along their journey. The Foundation partners with local oncology units at surrounding hospitals on a referral basis. The Foundation’s first donation was $2,000 to the Sutter Solano Cancer Center in Vallejo, CA to help provide transportation to those in need of assistance. Since its inception in 2014, the Foundation has granted over $700,000 to patients giving a HAND UP with rent and mortgage payments, gas & groceries, medical expenses, utility payments and other needs as approved by the Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors. The form of support is direct to the patients’ needs to help make a difference along their personal journey fighting cancer. The Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation continues to grow year after year, inspired by the community and those whom we have given a Hand Up along their journey.

We're incredibly grateful to be named a 2026 grantee of the To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation. Every day, we meet individuals and families who are navigating not only a cancer diagnosis, but the financial challenges that often come with it. Support like this helps us continue providing assistance with housing, utilities, groceries, transportation, and other essential needs.

Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us support local families when they need it most.

Meet our 2026 Grantees - Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation

No where can you find a foundation in the Solano and surrounding counties who can reach out beyond their community to assist those in need, while fighting cancer financially, to the extent the Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation have. All walks of lives from nurses to homeless patients. Housing continues to be the largest expense for patients so they continue to assist with rent and mortgage payments, utility payments remain high and they are so happy to pay in full for those who worry while going through cancer treatments.

Jovana Garibay, Marin County Probation, presented the check on behalf of To Celebrate Life. Dolores Moorehead accepted the check.

For nearly 30 years, Heather Jolly has supported children and families navigating pediatric cancer, palliative care, and hospice services.

As a pediatric social worker at Kaiser Oakland, she sees firsthand the emotional and financial challenges families face when a child is diagnosed with cancer. Through her partnership with the Hamann Foundation, eight local families have received direct financial assistance during treatment.

We're grateful for partners like Heather, who help connect families to the support they need when they need it most.

At this year’s Annual Dinner & Auction, guests also heard from a dedicated pediatric social worker whose words offered a powerful look into the realities families face when a child is diagnosed with cancer.

Shout out to Solano Community Foundation for the recognition - congrats!

We have some exciting news to share-and we meant that literraly. This recognition belongs to ALL OF US.

On May 20th, is California Nonprofits Day — a statewide celebration of the organizations that make our communities stronger. And we are thrilled to mark the occasion with some news close to home.

The Solano Community Foundation has been named the 2026 California Nonprofit of the Year for Assembly District 11 by Assemblymember Lori D. Wilson, as part of the statewide California Nonprofits Day celebration honoring organizations making an extraordinary impact on their local communities. We are deeply humbled.

But here's the truth: this award is not ours alone to hold.

When Assemblymember Wilson selected the Solano Community Foundation, she was recognizing something bigger than any single organization — she was recognizing what Solano County's nonprofit community can accomplish when we work together. Every organization that has shown up for this county and served its neighbors with dedication is woven into this recognition. This award belongs to all of you.

For Charis, volunteering is about showing up for people during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Over the years, she has seen firsthand how even small acts of support can ease the burden for local families navigating cancer treatment — and why community matters so much.

We’re grateful for volunteers like Charis who continue to give their time, heart, and compassion to the Foundation. 💜
