Looking for a meaningful way to give back as a family? 💙🍎

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is hosting its Fall Harvest Family Day at the Fairfield warehouse!

📅 Saturday, October 10
📍 2370 North Watney Way, Fairfield

Families, groups and children ages five and older are invited to help bag fresh fall produce for local food-distribution programs. This is a hands-on opportunity for children to learn about service while helping provide nutritious food to neighbors in our community.

A few important details:

🍐 All volunteers must be scheduled in advance
🍎 Registration is first come, first served
🥕 One actively volunteering adult is required for every eight children ages 5–15
👟 Closed-toe shoes are required
✅ Wait for an official confirmation after submitting your request

This is such a wonderful way to spend time together, teach our children about giving back and create a ripple that reaches families throughout our community. 🌊

September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. ❤️

Every three minutes, someone in the United States is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. Every three minutes, another person becomes a patient and another family hears words that can change everything.

But behind every statistic is a person.

A son. A daughter. A parent. A spouse. A friend.

And beside so many of them is someone who would give anything to take the diagnosis away.

Blood cancers include leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and many other forms. Organizations such as the Lymphoma Research Foundation and Blood Cancer United are working to advance research, advocate for patients, and provide support to individuals and families navigating these diseases.

This month, we honor those fighting, those in remission, the families standing beside them, and those we carry with us.

Awareness matters. Research matters. Support matters.

Because every three minutes isn't just a number.

🧡 In honor of James Baldwin and his courageous kidney cancer journey, The Ripple Effect of Life is raising money for the National Kidney Foundation.

On November 8th, we’ll walk alongside thousands of others, including our friends at the Montanez Foundation Team, in the fight against kidney disease.

James isn’t able to walk with us this year due to his health but you can walk in his shoes. 🧡

There is something so powerful about young people helping younger students feel more confident, capable and supported. 💙📚

The Vallejo John F. Kennedy Library is looking for teen volunteers to help kindergarten through eighth-grade students with homework every Wednesday from 3:30–5:30 p.m.

This is a wonderful opportunity for teens to:

✨ Earn community-service hours
✨ Gain valuable work and leadership experience
✨ Support younger students
✨ Make a real difference in their community

Solano County Library’s Teen Volunteer Program is open to teens ages 12 and older. Interested volunteers will need to complete an application and meet with the Teen Librarian.

This is exactly what it means to Be the Ripple—sharing your time and knowledge to help someone else grow. 🌊

Back to school is about so much more than backpacks, new shoes and school supplies. ❤️📚✏️

As our kids head into a new school year, these are the things I hope they carry with them every single day:

💗 You are loved.
💪 You can do hard things.
✨ It’s okay to make mistakes.
💚 Kindness matters.
🙋‍♀️ It’s always okay to ask for help.
💙 Your feelings matter.
👫 Be the friend you would want to have.
🍎 Take care of yourself.
🌟 Believe in yourself.
🌊 And most importantly… BE THE RIPPLE.

A smile. An invitation to sit together. Standing up for someone. Helping a classmate. Including the child who feels left out. One small act of kindness can completely change someone else’s day — and you may never even know how far that ripple travels.

Here’s to raising kids who are not only smart and strong, but KIND. ❤️

Getting to cancer treatment shouldn’t be another battle a patient has to face. 💙

The American Cancer Society’s Road To Recovery program is looking for volunteer drivers in Solano County to help transport cancer patients to and from their treatment appointments.

The schedule is flexible, training is provided, and even a couple of rides each month can make an incredible difference. It’s more than transportation, it’s kindness, reassurance and a reminder that no one should have to walk this journey alone.

If you have a reliable vehicle, a little time and a heart for helping others, this could be a beautiful way to Be the Ripple. 🌊

There are moments in life that remind you why you started.

Standing on that golf course, surrounded by so many people who believe in our family, our foundation, and most importantly, our dad, was one of those moments.

When Mom and I started The Ripple Effect of Life, it wasn't because we had all the answers. It was because cancer changed our family's story, and we refused to let it be the end of the story.

We wanted to honor the man who has spent his entire life quietly serving others. A man who has shown us that the greatest legacy we can leave isn't measured by what we achieve, but by the lives we touch.

That man is James Baldwin.

Our golf tournament was a beautiful success, but the greatest gift wasn't the funds we raised. It was seeing so many people choose to believe in our vision and stand beside us as we work to create ripples of kindness, compassion, and service that will continue long after we're gone.

If you haven't already, we invite you to watch this video. It shares our why, the heart behind The Ripple Effect of Life and the incredible man who inspired it all.
