🐾 In Loving Memory of Ricky D. 🐾
Today, we say goodbye to a dear friend, volunteer, dog trainer, veteran, and member of the 4 Paws family.
Ricky was a proud Vietnam veteran from the hills of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, a devoted father, a loving husband who never stopped carrying the memory of his late wife in his heart, and a man whose greatest treasures were his family and friends.
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ricky was called home.
Anyone who spent time around Ricky knew there was something special about him. He had a quiet strength, a kind heart, and a deep love for dogs. Whether he was working with a nervous shelter dog, sharing training advice, or simply offering a gentle hand and encouraging words, Ricky had a gift for making both people and animals feel safe.
The dogs loved him right back.
Many of the animals who passed through our shelter found comfort, confidence, and trust because Ricky took the time to believe in them. His patience and dedication helped countless dogs take the next step toward finding loving homes.
Ricky was also a cherished friend to so many, especially our own Lynda, with whom he shared a special bond. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his impact will remain woven into the lives he touched.
We find comfort in imagining Ricky reunited with loved ones gone before him, greeted by wagging tails and wet noses at Heaven’s gate.
Thank you, Ricky, for your service to our country, your love for animals, your friendship, and your unwavering kindness.
You will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever a part of the 4 Paws family.
🌈🐾 Run free, Ricky.
The dogs are waiting for you.
