🌞 Sunny Days & Science Waves: Cloverbud Day Camp 🌊

Get ready for a morning full of sunshine, creativity, and hands-on discovery! At Sunny Days & Science Waves: Cloverbud Day Camp, our youngest 4-H members will explore a variety of fun and engaging stations designed to spark curiosity and imagination. From colorful Skittle Science experiments to crafting whirling paper windsocks, creating jellyfish ocean art, and designing coffee filter critters, Cloverbuds will learn through play every step of the way. Campers will also mix up a tasty Zoo Munch Mix snack and create their own seashell treasures to take home.

⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Location: Boone County Extension Meeting Room, Suite 5, Belvidere, IL 61008
This half-day camp is perfect for Cloverbuds eager to explore science, creativity, and summer fun in a welcoming, hands-on environment.
We are limited on space, so there are only 25 spots for Cloverbuds to join!
This is a drop-off-and-pick-up-later event; feel free to run errands or go to work while we entertain your Cloverbud for the morning!

Awesome job Sydney! We are so proud to have you represent Boone County 4-H!

Congratulations to the newest members of the Youth Leadership Team, including Sydney Molander of Boone County!

The Youth Leadership Team takes on extensive planning and leadership roles, with teens serving on statewide committees and boards, including the Illinois 4-H Foundation Board of Directors and the Illinois Farm Bureau Youth Education Committee.

Club teams must consist of 6+ players and each youth may only play on one team for tournament purposes. Clubs may have more than one team. Every player must be a registered Boone County 4-H’er.

University of Illinois is excited to partner with Lincoln Land Community College to offer an immersive 2 day training camp for the most dedicated youth judges that are looking to level up! This camp will be based on campus but will feature travel to surrounding areas. The cost is $100 per participant, and lodging will be provided. If you have any questions please get in touch with Nate Brookshire or Craig Beckmier.

How do teens become a part of the Illinois 4-H Delegation:

1) Complete the National Congress
Application by July 1, 2026. https://4h.zsuite.org/event-registrations/49104

2) We have spots for TEN Illinois 4-H teens to participate. National Congress Application will be used to select the ten Illinois teens. The Illinois 4-H Foundation has secured scholarship funds for the 10 selected delegates.

3) Cost –The total cost this year is $2,000 per participant. Selected youth will receive a $1,500 scholarship to the event provided by Illinois 4-H. They are responsible for the remaining $500 balance, which must be paid by September 1. Once selected and approved in ZSuite for this event, they will be able to log in to pay the balance. Staff will receive the list of selected applicants, if your county wishes to pay their deposit, we can coordinate it at that time.

4) Program Content – To learn more about National 4-H Congress visit http://national4-hcongress.com/ or check them out on social media. There is a delegate handbook that will contain details of the event and an example schedule (note- not updated for 2026 yet).

Congratulations to Vann, one of our Boone County representatives at this year’s Boone, DeKalb, and Ogle Fishing Night, for reeling in the biggest catch for Boone County at just over 11 inches!

Great job Vann! 🎣
