Providing Networking, Education, Political Advocacy, and Service to the metro Washington commercial construction industry.

Established in 1958, ABC of Metro Washington is one of 75 chapters in a nationwide federation of more than 23,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms with nearly two million employees. Locally, ABC of Metro Washington is more than 500 member companies strong. ABC members are dedicated to free enterprise, open competition, and the merit shop philosophy. They are the builders of schools, hospitals, government buildings, recreational facilities, commercial centers, industrial plants, bridges, roads, museums, churches, and more. Merit Shop is a way of doing business in which companies reward employees based on performance and encourage them to reach their highest level of achievement, and in which contracts are awarded based on safety, quality and value, regardless of labor affiliation.

Many thanks to everyone who attended our Meet The Generals event last month! It featured over 40 General Contractor exhibitors who were able to meet with subcontractors and suppliers for potential new work and partnerships.

During this event, we also hosted college scholarship recipients. ABC of Metro Washington awarded a record $93,000 to local college students studying engineering, architecture and construction management.

This annual event tradition is so beneficial to our members. It connects decision makers with those seeking projects. The 2027 date will be announced soon! We are excited to see you next year!

ABC of Metro Washington held its first data center discussion panel in Germantown, MD on Tuesday. The breakfast event explored the future of data center construction by bringing both general contractor and sub-contractor experts together. They shared information about their previous data center projects and also where they are seeing growth beyond the DC metropolitan area.

Members learned about data center construction challenges within workforce management, technology, contracting, jobsite safety, and regulations. Attendees walked away with practical tips to bid on these projects and the pitfalls to recognize when evaluating if the projects are the right fit for their company.

Many thanks to our panelists: Brandon Ripley, Tim Anderson, Mike Hurley, Michael DeSarno, and TJ Sawner, for leading an engaging and insightful discussion to start the morning!🌞
