Odyssey took a turn volunteering at the Chautauqua Isle of Lights! πŸŽ„βœ¨
It was 9 degrees πŸ₯Ά and while we took turns inside and outside the building, Ruby and Warren win the award for best dressed for the cold! They showed up in coveralls and were probably layered about five times β€” clearly they got a memo the rest of us missed. πŸ˜„β„οΈ

With over 303 light displays, this incredible community project is put together by the dedicated Isle of Lights Committee. It’s a wonderful way to bring Christmas joy and holiday cheer to little Beloit.

Be sure to go check it out! Visit their page to learn more, and don’t miss it β€” the Isle of Lights is open through the final night on December 31st! πŸŽ…πŸŽ† Chautauqua Isle of Lights

Every year, our Odyssey Group gets the opportunity to hear from our local high school basketball coaches! πŸ€ They share how the season is shaping up and what they’re most excited about as the year gets underway.

Last week, we enjoyed hearing from Lance Bergmann of St. John’s Boys Basketball and Mikey Doll of Beloit High School Boys Basketball.

This week, we were pleased to welcome Keith Kresin from Beloit High School Girls Basketball and Leah Bergmann of St. John’s Girls Basketball.

Great insights, great conversations, and a big thank-you to all the coaches for taking the time to join us! And we have to mention Keith’s festive holiday hat, definitely brought some seasonal cheer! πŸŽ„

A few weeks ago, our Odyssey Club had the pleasure of welcoming a special guest β€” Vaughn Studer! πŸŽ‰

Vaughn, originally from right here in Beloit and a past member of our club, stopped in to share an informative and fascinating presentation about Engrain, a cutting-edge technology company specializing in enzymes and additives for the food and animal nutrition industries, straight out of Manhattan KS!🌾

We loved having Vaugh back and appreciated the insight he brought to our group! Thanks for taking the time to visit with us, Vaughn! πŸ™Œ

On October 8th, the Beloit Odyssey Club enjoyed lunch at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems followed by a tour and history of the Perdue House πŸ‘πŸ’™. We learned firsthand how this incredible home provides comfort and support to families with loved ones in the hospital.

We were honored to present a $1,000 donation to help continue the mission of the Perdue House and the care it offers our community πŸ’›πŸ™.

Proud to support such a meaningful resource right here in Beloit!

We enjoyed hearing from Senator Elaine Bowers and Representative Dawn Wolf for Kansas House last week!

We had a great time at Day 2️⃣ at Beloit Summer Kids Cafe! Pancakes and sausage are always a hit. Shoutout to self-proclaimed grill master, Jason Rabe, who braved the heat to flip some pancakes!

Odyssey baseball games:

We are calling the tball and coach pitch games today. Too wet and too cold for baseball at this level. It’s supposed to rain all day and it’s only in the 50s We would like to try to do it tomorrow but that doesn’t look much better. I’ll let you know tomorrow morning. We might just lose the first game. It seems to happen every other summer.

Games today cancelled.
