EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION OPEN NOW:
LAYERS OF LISTENING | 5 DAY CI INTENSIVE TRAINING | ALESSANDRO RIVELLINO + LILIANNA KANE

5 days of deep practice and study of Contact Improvisation with Alessandro Rivellino and Lilianna Kane

Classes | jams | home cooked meals | rest | wood fired sauna | river dips

This workshop will be a focused container for the study and practice of Contact Improvisation. Classes will range from slow, subtle, and meditative material surrounding presence, listening techniques, and somatic exploration, to dynamic, playful and athletic dancing scores. We will review foundations for dancing with weight in motion, and entering into and out of touch. We will meet the ground as it meets our feet. We will pay attention to detail and patiently attune to each other and ourselves. We will also liberate ourselves to play and run like silly foxes in the snow. We will investigate the sensational experiences of falling, flying, rolling, and stillness. We will dance a lot.

Jared Williams facilitates this month’s MONTHLY CONTACT IMPROVISATION JAM
In this warm-up into dancing we will explore where we might find moments of possibility inside the fall and rising from the floor and how these two moments of gravitational navigation might serve as moments to join or leave a dance.

Jared has been studying, researching and falling down inside of CI spaces since 2011.

He has learned Contact Improvisation from and worked with Nancy Stark Smith, Karen Nelson, Taja Will, Chris Aiken, Jennifer Nugent, Keith Hennessy and Scott Wells among many others and has been facilitating and teaching Contact Improvisation since 2016.

In his dancing he is interested in how we dance with the world as it is, how we cultivate an ethical wild-ness, group wilderness as places of emergent structure, rest and edges.

Memories from last month’s F.I.R.E. Residency

Every spring since 2024 we have hosted Forums for Indigenous Research and Exchange; a self-curated cohort of Indigenous scholars, artists and curators that gather to spend a week working, resting and connecting with one another in residency.

We love the emergent quality of this time of year and that feeling is often echoed within the group, where days might be spent making work, finding solo time, going on day-trips, discussing work and life over meals, or relaxing in the evening. This year’s cohort includes noise/performance and interdisciplinary artists, painters, filmmakers, musicians, museum curators and clothing/fabric artists. F.I.R.E. reminds us that magic happens when artists share time and space [and dad jokes ] with each other. Grateful! FIRE 2026 included:

Aru Apaza
Kalyn Fay Barnoski
Camille Billie
Justis Brokenrope
Lydia Cheshewalla
Haley Greenfeather English
Ange Loft
Sarah Rowe
Lokotah Sanborn
Vincent Vigil

We joyfully recount our last month’s DRIFT: a drawing and movement workshop!

Thank you to our fantastic teachers Anya Smolnikova, Lilianna Kane and Julio Neijens for this rich and productive week.

As we continued to explore this collaborative visual and movements arts curriculum; we engaged in experimental markmaking, fundamental drawing techniques, worked with a figure model, spent time in the holy spring woods, shook, moved on our brand new maple floors in the P.I.K.E Studio, shared living space and ate home cooked meals!

Special thank you to the kitchen team and chef Izzy Kane for all the beautiful meals!

Forums for Indigenous Research & Exchange return this MAY for its 3rd iteration.

F.I.R.E. is a self-curated cohort of Indigenous multidisciplinary artists from across the Turtle Island [eg: Central / North / Arctic regions of America ] that gather for one week per year to work, rest, collaborate and connect around process, practice and life!

Each cohort is curated by and with the artists from the previous year, ensuring new artists, both established and emerging, have a chance to attend and for previous participants to return.

The artists range in discipline from noise and sound artists, painters, writers, visual artists and muralists, to dancers, performance-based artists and scholars.

This is a special event for us always and lands as the spring is really taking hold and the birds, spring peepers, flowers and animals are on the move. Always hilarious, beautiful and green!
