JOYFUL VOICES - OCTOBER 2026

Ardis Lawrence* is again treating us with her gift for words. She has written poetry since she was a child and this poem is one she wrote more recently after interacting with someone who thought her hands were beautiful when Ardis thought differently. Sometimes it takes the wise and thoughtful words of someone else to help us see ourselves as God see us- beautiful in every way.

Calling all artists! Join in the 2026 Annual Art Contest 🎨

From now until November 22nd, we are accepting art submissions, including poems. Winning art pieces will be showcased in our 2027 Bridge Calendar, which will be given to all winners and anyone who donates $100 or more during our End-of-Year campaign (more information on that later!).

In celebration of our ✨40th Anniversary✨ next year, ideal pieces capture the heart of Bridge Disability Ministries and our impact on the community over the past 40 years.

One week before school started, Edgerrin’s wheelchair broke.

A replacement through his family’s usual provider could take up to six weeks. Without a working chair at home, his mom was carrying him on her back to help him get around.

His parents called seven organizations and searched everywhere for help before finding Bridge—and making the 1.5-hour drive to our Medical Equipment Center in Redmond.

We hoped we could repair his chair. When we couldn’t, we searched our donated inventory.

And there it was. ❤️

A TiLite wheelchair that, with a few adjustments, fit Edgerrin beautifully—with room to grow.

Even better? He loved it.

This is the beauty of equipment reuse. One family passes along a wheelchair they no longer need, and another child finds exactly what he needs—at exactly the right time.

Here’s to a great school year, Edgerrin!
