Tony Winner J. Harrison Ghee Needs a Kidney

"... healing isn't a solo act."

No truer words could be spoken about an organ transplant.

Ghee is speaking out for National Minority Donor Awareness Month, promoting donor education and registration in multicultural communities.

The connection between your Eye’s and your Kidney's

August is National Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month (NMDAM), a collaborative effort to save lives and improve the quality of life for diverse communities by fostering a positive culture around organ, eye and tissue donation.
Why is NMDAM needed? 60% of patients on the national transplant waiting list are from multicultural communities. The need for donation and transplant is more pronounced in minority communities where disproportionately higher rates of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease contribute to organ failure, especially kidney failure. You can find resources to share and read more about NMDAM at nmag1.org and DonateLife.net 💙💚
NMDAM is a collaborative effort of the National Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation Multicultural Action Group (NMAG).

There has been news about the Network of Hope over the past year or more that has caused people to question the ethics in organ donation. Sadly, this OPO has been decertified. What does this mean for the people who live in their area? And so many people have taken themselves off the State registries because of the news coming out about this one OPO. Please remember not all are the same. We have a great team here at LiveOnNebraska.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the federal decertification of Network for Hope after investigators found repeated patient safety failures in its handling of organ donations.
