✨ Ava’s Artist Residency in Maine ✨
Maine was such an amazing experience! 🤍 Ava spent time living and creating alongside 16 other artists from completely different backgrounds and artistic practices. Because the residency was self-guided, everyone had the freedom to work at their own pace, explore new ideas, and experiment with whatever inspired them.
The theme of the residency was “Navigating Your Art Through Change,” which gave Ava the opportunity to slow down, be present, and reflect on where she’s been and where she’s going. She learned new techniques and styles from the other artists, participated in skill shares about terra sigillata and paper clay, and had so many of those special creative moments that happen when artists come together and share what they know. 🎨🏺
Outside of the studio, the group shared home-cooked meals, stayed in the cutest dorms, explored Maine, visited a local lobster shack on the water, and even went puffin watching! Evenings were spent either making ceramics or gathered around playing board games.
While every part of the residency was special, Ava says her favorite part was the people—getting to know 16 other artists, learning from them, and sharing this experience together. What a beautiful reminder that sometimes the best part of creating is the community we find along the way. 💕
