Celebrating 13 years of walking together 🩷

Last week we gathered for the 13th Annual Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk Thank You Reception to celebrate the incredible team captains, donors, and sponsors who make this event and its impact on our community possible.

Together, we celebrated all that we have accomplished and, most importantly, recognized the incredible individuals who raised their hands to lead our community in support of local cancer care. Our community is stronger when we all join together, and the Annual Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk is proof of that.

Congratulations to Louise Ann Teng, the 2026 recipient of the UM Upper Chesapeake Health’s Adam Thompson Memorial Scholarship!

Established by retired UM UCH team member Dr. Pat Thompson in memory of her son Adam, the scholarship is awarded annually to a child of a UM UCH team member enrolled at Harford Community College

A graduate of International High School, Louise was selected for her academic success and dedication towards earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to become a registered nurse.

We are proud to support Louise as she continues her education and works toward her goal of making a meaningful difference in the lives of her future patients and in the healthcare community. Congratulations, Louise, and best wishes for all that lies ahead! 💙

Thank you to the incredible women of the Ladies’ 9-Hole and 18-Hole Leagues at Maryland Golf and Country Clubs for another inspiring Tee-Off for Cancer event!

Despite the summer heat, these dedicated golfers came together to make a meaningful difference for local families facing cancer. We are honored to share this year‘s tournament raised $15,000 in support of Cancer LifeNet.

This is what community is all about— friends and neighbors helping friends and neighbors. Thank you to every golfer, sponsor, volunteer, and supporter who made this day such a success. 💙⛳️

We recently had the opportunity to recognize Dr. Richard P. Streett, Jr., his wife Esther S. Streett and family for their leadership and philanthropic support of our Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation with a portrait unveiling and the naming of the Streett Family Conference Center in our Kaufman Cancer Center.

Dr. Streett’s leadership volunteer service at UM UCH spans more than two decades and continues today as a member of both the medical center and Foundation Board of Directors. The Streett Family remains committed to supporting healthcare in our community, providing hope and healing close to home.

We extend our deepest gratitude and are honored to celebrate the Streett family for the impact they’ve made through philanthropy. This is friends and neighbors helping friends and neighbors.

It's volunteer spotlight time!

Meet Jack, a retired Vietnam veteran who now volunteers at UM UCH. As a concierge in our Klein Ambulatory Care Center, he enjoys helping patients and visitors find their way to appointments and feel more comfortable during their visit. For Jack, volunteering is a meaningful way to stay connected to his community, meet new people and continue a lifetime of service.

Interested in making an impact like Jack? Learn more about becoming a volunteer: 443-643-1725 or [email protected].
