Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble

Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble The Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble is the premier concert band of Beaver County. The BCSWE is under the leadership of Kevin Newton and Bobby Jarsulic.

The goal of BCSWE is to provide free, quality musical entertainment to the Beaver County community. Additionally, we exist to provide an outlet for musicians ranging from amateur to professional to pursue their musical performance passions. We are a “no-audition” group, which means that all who are interested in learning, growing, and enjoying musical performance are welcome.

The Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble will present our Fall Fantasy concert, titled “American Voices,” on Saturday, September 19 at Ambridge High School. Doors open at 6:30pm and the concert will start at 7pm. A $5 suggested donation will help further the mission of the BCSWE.

The concert represents the many experiences, struggles, traditions, and dreams that have shaped our nation. From bold patriotism to faith and hope, the program celebrates the many voices of America—voices of celebration, sorrow, freedom, conflict, reconciliation, sacrifice, and perseverance.

We will bring the program close to home with a premiere performance of Henry Mancini’s “Beaver Valley ’37 Suite” for Wind Ensemble, arranged by our very own Kevin Newton. Written as an autobiographical tribute to Mancini’s childhood, the suite musically depicts the environmental and cultural landscapes that shaped his life in the Beaver Valley during the Great Depression. As an Aliquippa native himself, Kevin has brought this remarkable work to the wind band repertoire for the first time, allowing a piece deeply connected to our community to be heard by a new generation of musicians and audiences.

Above all, this concert is a celebration of the belief that America is strongest when all of its voices are heard. Through music, we remember our history, honor those who came before us, recognize the struggles that shaped us, acknowledge where we have fallen short, and look toward a future in which every voice has the opportunity to become part of the American song.

💙Congratulations to Mickey Bushaw on receiving the Howard J. Howarth award! This award is presented yearly to a member of the Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble who shows great dedication and pride toward the group, and Mickey does just that and more!

As a member of the percussion section, and our full-time drum set player 🥁, Mickey knows a thing or two about the dedication. As one of the first people at rehearsal and the commonly the last one to leave, Mickey serves every member of our ensemble with a contagious smile!

Please join us in congratulating him in the comments!🎉👏
