Klause had gained about 15 pounds and now requires one further thing: a home.

When Klause, a 1-year-old, arrived at California GSP Rescue, he was extremely thin and had long nails. Nevertheless, he was still happy, alert and eager for affection.

Getting him to safety required a volunteer, a long drive and an unexpected two-and-a-half-hour traffic delay. His recovery required food, additional care, exercise, and time.

He was worth all of it.

Klause is now available for adoption and needs to be placed in an active home that is capable of meeting the requirements of a young German Shorthaired Pointer; the video also features Jack and Bailey, who are two other young dogs currently waiting for their own homes.

Ella's story started with hope but was cut short by the sharp pain of being abandoned when she ended up in another kennel at a crowded shelter.

Her adopter was unprepared for the whirlwind energy and bright, restless heart that define a young German Shorthaired Pointer. Though they reached out for help, their patience faded. Before Ella’s second chance could even begin, she was left a second time, her bright future on pause as she waited at a new shelter.

There is nothing wrong with Ella. She is healthy, sweet, curious, and full of GSP energy. She needs an adopter ready to provide meaningful daily exercise, mental stimulation, training, and affection.

Today we are paying tribute to California GSP Rescue Alumni, Zumaya, adopted in 2020, who has sadly passed away. The beautiful life John gave Zumaya over the past 6 years was much different than how she spent the first 6 years of her life.

"With four kids at home, Zoey, formerly known as Peach seems to be thriving in the chaos! She gets the zoomies in the the evening and just runs laps around the backyard as fast as she can. It’s hilarious. She is the sweetest girl".

Nobody came looking for Blue. Now he is looking for someone to choose him.

Blue was discovered stretched out lying in the shade near a gas station, where he was nearly backed over before help arrived. After every effort was made to locate his owner, he came to California GSP Rescue.

What emerged was a gentle surprise: Blue is a goofy, affectionate soul, his energy softened by time into a mellow warmth. For those who cherish the spirit of the breed but seek a companion content with quieter days, he may be the perfect fit.

Blue is safe now, his story shifting from uncertainty to hope. Applications are open for those ready to write the next chapter with him.
