Hope in Him feeling blessed to be part of two remembrance services on International Overdose Awareness Day. The night ended a long day in Camden, New Jersey at the Remembrance & Hope Memorial Vigil. Remembering the 1546 people who died from overdoses in New Jersey in 2025. The park was alight with purple. The highlight of the night was Camden County Sheriff, Chuck Billingham speaking of his personal battle with alcohol addiction. I spoke to him briefly prior to the start of the event, and he spoke of the importance of faith. He and his department have a commitment to help the community and officers struggling with mental health and or addiction issues. He gave a huge shout out to several in the audience who were in recovery houses, whom he personally mentors weekly. Their Resiliency Team helps those struggling with substances and or mental health issues, to get back on track with resources and support. Well over 100 were present to remember those lost to addiction and to unite as community.
Earlier in the day I had the privilege of attending the 6th annual Flag Lowering Ceremony, New Castle, DE with Face the Facts. The memories of the 338 people who died from addiction, Delaware in 2025 were honored. Penny Rogers brought many to tears as she spoke of losing her daughter Gabriella to addiction. This was personal as Gabes & our organization worked together on multiple occasions, to bless many struggling with addiction at Mommies & Me Sober Living and other centers across the state. Hero Help was highlighted as they help those struggling with addiction seek treatment and provide resources. Hope on Deck, Impact Life and many other agencies who support those in recovery were there for this important event. We lowered the flags to remember those lost to the disease of addiction. Several others spoke of their loss. The bright faces of recovery at both events were encouraging. Faith, hope & love, but the greatest is love 🧡I Cor 13:13 Let’s come together to stop 🛑 the stigma & end the overdose. It takes a village to show Gods love as we uplift others. Every person is precious to God and he loves all of us equally 🙌
