The Adrian Joseph Romo Memorial Scholarship Cycle 2026 is now open and accepting applications until March 31st!

NCF is honored to continue to support the legacy of Adrian through this opportunity for Indigenous scholars within the ITEPP program and Cal Poly Humboldt community.

Adrian Romo was an ITEPP member and graduate from Humboldt State University in 2018 who was very involved in the program and community across the campus. Adrian valued and appreciated his time with ITEPP, as his involvement provided him a home away from home. He was a humble and caring leader at ITEPP and made an intentional effort to bond with and support Native students across campus, thus strengthening the sense of community throughout the club and program. In 2020, his family decided to establish a scholarship fund to commemorate his life and support current ITEPP students who carry those same values, therefore honoring and continuing his memory and legacy.

This opportunity is open to all Native/Indigenous students enrolled in the ITEPP program at Cal Poly Humboldt. Applicants must be enrolled in the ITEPP program for a minimum of a year and be able to demonstrate qualities of leadership and involvement in supporting the ITEPP student community.

Applications are due March 31, 2026. Please help us share this opportunity with ITEPP students!

Visit the link in post or the NCF website to learn more and access the PDF application. Email completed applications to [email protected], or fill out an application at ITEPP.

Join our team! The Native Cultures Fund (NCF) is seeking to fill one position at either a Program Officer or Senior Program Officer level. Please share this post with someone who'd be a perfect fit!

NCF is focused on cultural revitalization with a connection to the lands commonly referred to as California spanning from the Tolowa Dee-ni' in the north, to the Chumash in the south, and east to the Paiute and Washo along the Nevada border. Program Officers with NCF are expected to be visioning partners between communities across California and philanthropy to create programs and connections that foster the growth and thriving of California's Indigenous cultures. The NCF team incorporates Humboldt Area Foundation's organizational resources -- from grant making, to scholarships, to community engagement and technical assistance -- to ensure the greatest impact and support the reclamation and healing of California's First Peoples.

Considerations will include related professional experience, including familiarity and understanding of scholarship programs, working with grantees, funders, advisory boards, as well as experience with budget management and supervisory experience. Candidates must have lived experience in supporting cultural revitalization in Native communities.

This position will remain open until filled, however, priority consideration will be given to those who apply by 8am on Monday January 12th, 2026.

Application procedures can be found on the Humboldt Area Foundation's employment opportunities page along with a detailed job description, including specifics for both a Program Officer and Senior Program Officer. Visit hafoundation.org/jobs to learn more!

The 2026 'Aa-wok Georgiana Trull Memorial Scholarship is now open and accepting applications! πŸŽ‰

'Aa-wok Georgiana spent more than 40 years of her life dedicated to the revitalization of the Yurok language, contributing to an alphabet and publishing a conversation dictionary. She was born in Sregon Village on the Yurok reservation, to Melissa and Charlie Myers. She was a boarding school survivor, a welder in San Diego, a fish filleter at Lazio's in Eureka, and a teacher of the Yurok language for the Tribe in the last four decades of her life.

This scholarship is for California Native students enrolled in 2- or 4-year universities, graduate school programs or trade school who actively promote language revitalization. Preferences may be given to single mothers, welders, and/or survivors or descendants of survivors of boarding schools.

Please help share this opportunity with students you think should apply!

Visit the link in post or scan QR code for more information on scholarship criteria and instructions on how to apply.

Applications are due March 31st, and while there is plenty of time to apply, this holiday season could be a great time to get started on your video conversation with a cultural mentor while gathered together!

This year we would like to highlight an honorary, multi-year Montoya recipient, Ryan Reed! Ryan is Karuk, Hupa, and Yurok and has his BS in Environmental Studies, and recently completed his Master's in Forestry in Environmental Science, Policy and Management. We are so happy to have supported Ryan on his journey and see the ways in which he exemplifies the intent of this scholarship!

This year also marks an exciting milestone for the Montoya Scholarship of reaching $1 million shared to students over the past 7 years! NCF is honored to be able to share these resources and to see how students like Ryan honor its intent by bringing learned knowledge back to support community.

Please reach out to us at [email protected] or 707.267.9906 for any questions or application support.
