Once the chorus knew all the words and when to sing them, Carol’s main feedback for them was, “MEAN IT!“
And last night’s performance was beautiful and powerful.
We still have tickets left, if you mean to get some. https://www.eurekasymphony.org/requiem/

This weekend's German Requiem will be sung in German, naturally. If you don't speak German you will still feel the fullness of the music's offering. Both English and German lyrics will be in the playbill insert, but of course the lights will be down during the performance.

We will perform all 7 movements without stopping, there will not be an intermission. Let the profundity of the music sink in and hold your applause until the very end. ✨

The alley next to the Arkley Center (between 4th and 5th and F and G streets) in Eureka has been officially renamed Duane Flatmo Alley by the Eureka City Council. Much deserved! We love Duane and all that he has done for our community. We had fun a couple weeks ago taking photos with Carol in front of Duane's murals.

Come see his murals when you come to our Requiem for Humanity concerts this weekend! Tickets are going fast. https://www.eurekasymphony.org/requiem/

We also heard there will be a celebration of the naming on June 13, 7 PM in the alley.

The Eureka Symphony Chorus is sounding lovely and deeply expressive during their rehearsals for our Requiem for Humanity concert, May 29 & 30. Chorus Master David Powell has been doing a fabulous job with them. We can’t wait until everyone is on stage together. Make sure you get your tickets in advance, it’ll be a full house!

One of our favorite traditions is when students write thank you cards for Schools to Symphony. We are going to post them as photos because a reel passes by too quickly!

This is from one class, the 3rd graders at Cutten Elementary. Precious and worth reading each of them! 🙏😇👏💕

Students sing along to Golden, a surprise piece at their morning concert! Humboldt County Office of Education educates and brings students to be immersed in live symphonic music. This means so much to our orchestra. ❤️🎶👏 Thank you.

Today was a good day! Students filled the Arkley to hear a program designed just for them. Singing along to Golden was their big surprise! And Michaela Brand sang, “Walking in the Air“ like she did during our holiday concert. Thank you Humboldt County Office of Education for partnering with us and thank you to everyone who supports our education program!

Every spring we partner with the Humboldt County Office of Education to bring over 1200 students to the Arkley to hear a 50 minute program. Teachers have been preparing students for weeks, ensuring that students will get the most out of the music they will hear. These images are a sampling of their curriculum. We owe a warm round of applause to Lizzy Dostal and the HCOE for "preparing students for their preferred future." Kudos also to all of YOU who have supported this program with your dollars year after year.
