- During the 19th century, clamming in Little Neck Bay provided a livelihood for many, and the recreational aspect of the bay was discovered as well. While the shoreline is fairly rocky, there were points along the bay that served as small beaches, and bathers also enjoyed swimming from floats moored offshore. By the dawn of the 20th century, the bay was highly touted in real estate advertisements and auctions for both its scenic quality and recreational value.

The BHS ballroom was filled to the rim with beautiful hats and elegant outfits for this fabulous event that honors a charming, British tradition. Many thanks to our wonderful volunteers for their work and preparation and to our lovely guests who purchased a ticket and made it such a special day for everyone.

Some pics from last night's engaging author talk with Donna Gentle Spirit Barron, a local Matinecock author and genealogist of her family's 400 year history in Little Neck. Donna signed books for attendees who enjoyed the fascinating stories she told of her people. BHS VP Paul DiBenedetto led the discussion.
