Yesterday 6 members from our local attended the parade for Juneteenth in Milwaukee. They said there was a great turnout and it was an amazing day networking with other members of our civil and human rights committee. A big thanks to Ketter King-Harris for doing an amazing job organizing this event and to Erin McFarlane for some great photos. Also to Amber Vallango for getting to info out to our members and coordinating the candy and waters we donated.

On Saturday May 30th between 2 and 4 pm stop down at Hansens in the loop for a free scoop of ice cream on us! Bring the family and enjoy the afternoon supporting local business in the downtown area during construction. Wear your USW shirts so we can get some great photos of the union support for the community. The streets may be closed but the sidewalks are open! This is available to any members in good standing and retirees.

Women of Steel 226-M participated in a significant march through Bay View today, united with union brothers and sisters. Historically, this march is notable for the violent confrontation in 1886 between workers advocating for an 8-hour day and city officials, which ended in tragedy with seven deaths and multiple injuries, including the loss of a young bystander. The march ended at a memorial, where speeches and performances honored the memory of those affected.
