Intergenerational play dates might be one of the most meaningful things you add to your calendar this month❤️
When I was practicing as an SLP, I worked at St. Anne Intergenerational Daycare and saw firsthand how special these connections can be. Research supports the benefits of intergenerational experiences for both children and older adults.
Now that my own dad is living in a nursing home, I see it in a whole new way. When I bring my kids to visit, I see how much life and joy they bring to the residents. These visits can become a highlight of someone’s entire day or week.
Kids Impact Community hosts THREE intergenerational play dates every month, with planned arts and crafts, activities, and time spent together. Grab a coffee beforehand and make a morning of it! It’s FREE, easy to do with your kids, and meaningful for everyone involved (there are planned crafts and activities led by KIC volunteers).
Especially if you don’t have grandparents nearby to fill your kids’ lives with these kinds of connections, this is such a beautiful way to bring generations together. Whether you’re bringing a toddler or a baby in your arms, these little moments matter.
There are THREE opportunities this October, with events in Lake Country, Cedarburg, and Milwaukee’s East Side, right along the lakefront. The first is THIS FRIDAY!
