The 2026 Kiwanis Open fundraiser tournament at the Lakeview Urbandale Kiwanis Outdoor Center is officially a wrap.

We'd like to start by saying thank you to all of our participants. Your support of our course means a ton to us. The funds raised goes directly to supporting Lakeview Urbandale Kiwanis and the Outdoor Center.

We would also like to thank all of the volunteers who helped organize, run, and prepare the Outdoor Center for the Kiwanis Open. Timing was rough with the recent storm, but we were able to get the property cleaned up and ready to play. There are lots of unseen hours that go into the course, and these events.

We had over 80 registrants in three divisions, which we love to see. There was a lot of great disc golf, the weather was great, and we saw a lot of people having a great time. We were able to hand out a lot of prizes for our 1st and 2nd place winners as well as several CTP/LP winners.

We appreciate everyone's patience as we continue to run these outings - we are not professionals - just volunteers trying to do our best to host fun events. As always, we appreciate everyone's feedback and we'll always reevaluate how we handle events to try to make them better for everyone in attendance.

We are happy to announce that the Lakeview Kiwanis Outdoor Center is now open to the public.

Kiwanis members and a few volunteers were able to get the last of the remaining work done today so that the course is safe to navigate and play. Thanks to all that helped tonight, and all those that helped during the past week. Hundreds of volunteer hours were donated during the past week, which allowed us to get the work done quickly.

There are still some messes on the course that we will continue to work on in the coming month. The course is not perfect and there is still lots to do. If you would like to help, please contact us and we will be happy to provide direction and work with you to get more done at the Outdoor Center. As always, we ask that you avoid any areas that may appear hazardous.

Again, we truly appreciate the fantastic efforts from our many volunteers - you help make a difference for many in the community.

We made significant progress today at the workday at the Outdoor Center. In addition to several Lakeview Urbandale Kiwanis Members, we had over a dozen volunteers - and many "regulars" who often help - that came out and helped clear all the downed trees and brush throughout the course. It has been a big job that would take weeks or months but dore help from the community. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time on this beautiful Sunday. We know you could be doing other things, but you chose to help out at the Outdoor Center - we appreciate you all.

We still have some more messes to cleanup before the course is safe to play and we are able to open - the Outdoor Center remains closed at this time.

Thanks to everyone who came out to help with cleanup at the Outdoor Center. We had several volunteers help throughout the day. We were able to cut up a lot of downed trees, move a lot of brush/debris, and get multiple large burn piles going. It was a very productive day. We still have A LOT of work to do before we are able to reopen. The Outdoor Center remains closed to the public for use at this time.

Our next scheduled workday is Sunday, May 3rd, 9a-6p. We hope to see you there - any time you can give helps - even an hour!

Reminder that the dumpster at the Lakeview Kiwanis Outdoor Center is for Lakeview Kiwanis Outdoor Center garbage. Please do not leave discarded items around the dumpster for Lakeview Urbandale Kiwanis members/volunteers to deal with.

Additionally, please do not park in front of the dumpster or in the grass along the white fence next to the dumpster. Current garbage pickup day is Thursday, but the day can vary based on Republic's schedule. Your vehicle could be towed if it is parked in front of the dumpster.

Progress was made in the storm cleanup efforts at the Outdoor Center today. In addition to some Kiwanis members, we had a few other volunteers show up. We made a good dent on hole 11, got most of hole 12 cleaned up, and started to tackle hole 7. Unfortunately, hole 3 into 4 is going to take several full days worth of work due to the sheer volume and size of trees that came down. There are several other smaller areas of damage that will need to be addressed as well. Thanks to all who came out and helped.

The Outdoor Center remains closed as multiple holes and walking areas are not safe to navigate. We'll continue to evaluate progress in upcoming days. The more volunteers that are able to come help, the sooner we'll be able to open.

Our next scheduled workday is this Friday at 8:00am. We'll take any help you are able to give.
