For many children entering foster care, that's exactly what happens.

When a child is removed from their home, there often isn't time to pack carefully. Many leave with only a few belongings—sometimes carried in a trash bag.

Behind every bag is a child carrying far more than clothes and toys. They're carrying uncertainty, fear, questions, and loss.

One caring foster family, one advocate, one community can help carry that burden.

Every child deserves dignity, stability, and the chance to heal.

Why Wednesday: A story from OUR open home:

Wild. Busy. Beautiful.

Three kids swooped in the door in need of baths and lice treatments. The youngest two plopped into the bubble bath without hesitation, but our 5-year-old guest wasn't so sure.

In stepped our amazing volunteer, Stephanie, who transformed a much-needed lice treatment into a "fancy" spa day. Soon, our little guest was calling everyone "daaaahling" (darling with a posh accent) and shopping the Giving Room.

Just like putting a little spin on a lice treatment can make the whole process a bit more bearable, our house spins removal day into an opportunity to make trauma just a little more love-infused.

Our three guests headed out the door that evening on their way to their foster families; clean, fed, and with those first few days' needs in hand.

Together, we ARE changing the way foster care begins. ❤️

Last week, CityLinC had the opportunity to be part of Coburn Elementary's end-of-school celebration!

We enjoyed connecting with students, families, and community members as they kicked off summer break. Events like these are a wonderful reminder of the importance of strong community partnerships and the impact we can make when we come together to support children and families.

No child chooses to enter foster care.

Children don't choose the addiction, abuse, neglect, domestic violence, incarceration, or crisis that leads to a removal.

They don't choose to leave their bedroom, their school, their pets, or the people they love.

Yet every day, children in our community face those realities.

Foster care isn't about rescuing children. It's about providing safety, stability, and hope during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives.

Every foster parent, donor, volunteer, and supporter helps remind a child that they are not alone. ❤️
