Here’s a Recap of our 2026 HBCU College Tour Experience ! More than just a tour, we participated in workshops, fun bowling night , and visited The Legacy Musuem in Alabama.

We’ve been doing tours for years but wanted you to see our work. So we documented it this year.

Our students stepped into history and toured Tuskegee University. Having a current student as a tour guide allowed participants to see practicality of the college experience.

They met with Ms. Tiller and experienced an aviation simulation, connecting directly to the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen. For many of these students, this was their first time imagining themselves in a cockpit or a lab coat. That is the power of exposure.

Baton Rouge local high school students kicked off the 2026 HBCU Tour Experience , last Friday, with a visit to Talladega College, Alabama’s oldest private Black liberal arts college. From campus tours to conversations about admissions and student life, our scholars got a firsthand look at what it means to walk in the footsteps of HBCU legacy. Talladega planted the seed.
We learned also that Rev. King and Andrew Young met on this campus. We ate in the cafeteria and toured the on campus Museum .

Today, we honor the life of our longtime supporter and son of Baton Rouge, Senator Larry Selders.

From serving on our Black History Program Committee with BREC to authoring HB554 that designated Juneteenth as a state holiday in 2021, he has been committed to supporting our cultural and community efforts in Louisiana.

As a proud Southern University gradate, he has also been a proud legacy sponsor for our HBCU College Tour which exposes local high school students to HBCUs across the country .

We love you and thank you Senator for supporting black history . May your legacy live on in our work and your family - Dr. Kendra, Luke, and LJ.
