Please keep the family of Corporal Walter Brooks and the members of the Baton Rouge Police in your prayers.

It is with heavy hearts that Baton Rouge Police Department grieves the loss of Corporal Walter Brooks.

Corporal Brooks passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, after being transported from his home to a local hospital with health complications.

Corporal Brooks proudly served the citizens of Baton Rouge as an Officer since 2011. He was currently assigned to Uniform Patrol, 1st District Evening Shift.

Please keep his family, blood and blue, in your thoughts and prayers.

Big news for our community! Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4 is seeking voter approval to renew the existing $32 User Fee on the June 27, 2026, ballot. This fee is a critical part of our funding and has been used for decades to sustain the fire protection and emergency medical services you rely on every day. This is NOT a new tax!

We want to thank all of you that came out today and supported Bryan Coppola and his family. The benefit to help Bryan beat this cancer was a great success. We couldn’t have done it without the community’s support. Also, we couldn’t have done this without the help and support of our friends at the Baton Rouge Firefighters Local 557, Zachary Firefighters Local 4644, Baton Rouge Union of Police, and Olinde Porche Insurance, and the St George Fire Dept.
