The Dormann Library Board of Trustee's meeting this month (October 20th, 2026) has been pushed back to 6:00pm. Standing meetings going forward may be moved to this time, pending a discussion and decision at the upcoming meeting. Once finalized any changes will be reflected in all existing and future meeting notices.

📖💫Plan Your Week at the Library 📖💫

📕Expand your reading horizons with Book Club this Wednesday at 11am in the Community Room. Join in on engaging discussions and make new friends who share your passion for books! This month's selection is These Summer Storms by Sarah MacLean. No registration is required.

🎨Register for one of three time slots to join us for this month's Teen/Adult Art Class. Join Special guest, Kim Chebalo this Wednesday at 2pm, 4pm, or 6pm as she guides you step-by-step through the process of making your very own Spoon Ring! This project is made possible in part by the QuickARTS grant program administered by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes and funded by the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, Inc.

🎮Teens, stop into the library this Friday for Friday Madness! Every 1st and 3rd Friday you can expect games, snacks, crafts, and more! Don't miss out on the fun!

We've received a lot of great, helpful feedback from our patrons and from our community survey. One thing that has come up more than once and which we can start to work on right away is the volume in our library. As a soft start, we will begin holding "quiet hours" on Mondays from 9am-11am beginning in November. We will continue our normal programs such as Open Play and Music, My Grown Up and Me in the classroom on Mondays but we will be asking that patrons work and play quietly in the main library if visiting during this time.

We don't like having to reinforce the stereotype of the shushing librarians, but because sound carries a bit too well in our building, it can be hard for people to focus. We hope this will be helpful for the patrons needing some quiet time for morning reading and work. We will have reminders posted in the library once this change officially begins.

🀄Come to the library this Monday at 1pm for Mah Jongg Gaming! Have a fun afternoon of gaming with fellow Mah Jongg lovers! All materials provided. No registration is required.
🧸Join us this Wednesday at 3:30pm for Bonus Open Play time! The Children’s Classroom will be filled with a variety of toys for kids to explore and enjoy. Designed for children ages 0–8 and their caregivers. No registration is required.
🖍Hang out in the classroom with us this Thursday at 4:30pm for Afterschool Club, right after Bonus Open Play! We will have Storytime and a fun activity, craft, or coloring designed for kids ages 5 through 12! Afterschool Club is every other Thursday. No registration required.
