The Leadership Steuben Program is a professional development initiative for Steuben County and Southern Tier leaders, designed to build skills in leadership, communication, and community impact. Presented by the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with SUNY Corning Community College Workforce, the program offers a dynamic learning environment where adult professionals who live, work, or have a vested interest in Steuben County can grow their leadership abilities, build meaningful connections, and make a positive impact in their communities.

America 250 — Celebrating 250 Years of Freedom, Opportunity, and Independence

Two hundred and fifty years ago, a group of courageous patriots gathered in Philadelphia and embraced a bold idea, that all people are created equal and are entitled to liberty, opportunity, and self-government. Congratulations to the Arc Angels!

On June 7, the Arc Angels competed at the United States Tournament of Dance National Dance Competition in Binghamton, New York, and delivered an outstanding performance. They earned a High Point Gold Medal with an impressive score of 292.0 out of 300!

This remarkable achievement reflects the dancers' hard work, dedication, teamwork, and passion. We are incredibly proud of each member of the Arc Angels for representing our community with such talent and enthusiasm.

There will be no Green Machine softball practice today in Hornell due to the predicted lightning, thunder, and rain.

Don’t miss BINGO – 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 at the Andover Volunteer Fire Department (60 South Main St, Andover, NY 14806). All event proceeds directly support Green Machine athletes who compete in Special Olympics New York events/competitions.

Pre-sale tickets are no longer available, but tickets will be available for $30 at the door and include 10 bingo cards. Doors open at 12pm and games start at 1pm. Additional bingo cards, 50/50, and food/beverage will be available for purchase at the event.

Last Friday was an absolutely delightful day as we joined 21 teams at Bath Country Club for the Arc Star Golf Classic Tournament.

The weather could not have been more perfect for a day on the course. The sun was shining, the breeze carried the ball, and great fellowship was shared from hole to hole.

OPWDD is proud to partner with NYS State Parks, DEC, the Office of the Chief Disability Officer, the Department of Veterans Services, the Office of Mental Health and the Justice Center on Get Outdoors & Get Together Day which is happening on Saturday, June 13. Fun and accessible outdoor events will be held at select locations across the state!

At DEC sites, attendees can discover new skills and enjoy a range of introductory-level outdoor recreation activities such as fishing, nature walks and hikes, birding, archery, camping, paddling, and more. Activities will vary at state parks and other sites and range from lawn games to accessible hikes to arts and crafts. Most events will run from 10 am until 2 pm.
