I've acted or directed in over 40 venues across the country and I'd say 60% of them had "theatre cats." I guess it makes sense because they're strays, discarded, marginalized, or feral. Much like many of us in our business. A few months ago Ensemble Stage joined this special group when 3 cats suddenly appeared and took up residence by our backstage door. Well, as the saying goes, "winter is coming," and here in the NC mountains, winter is no joke. So to help them see it through the cold weather they now have a cozy house (complete with pitched, asphalt roof and added insulation along the walls and floor) they can hang out in that protects them from the cold, the wind, and the rain.
