Highlandtown Main Street

Highlandtown Main Street The Highlandtown Main Street program follows the model from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Highlandtown’s Main Street, which runs along Eastern Avenue from Ellwood Street to Haven Street–is a thriving 10 block stretch of shops, restaurants, grocers and art spaces with merchants and clientele from all over the globe. The program helps merchants create business plans, find available properties and understand market demographic information. We also manage a facade grant program that helps

businesses make improvements that attract more customers to their shops. Highlandtown Main Street is a program of the Southeast CDC and a program of Baltimore Main Streets (a program of the City of Baltimore).

The film explores the issue of supporting local businesses throughout the year; it also offers solutions and hope for sustained, localized shopping and community engagement.

Many thanks to the Mayor's Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy and Development and Baltimore Main Streets for raising awareness about this urgent problem faced by many of our own neighborhood shops and eateries.
