POLISH LANGUAGE CLASS — FALL 2026

PNA Council 21’s Polish Language Class returns for a new 12-week semester beginning Sunday, September 13th!
This semester’s theme is Moja wielka polska przygoda (“My Big Polish Adventure”), an imagined trip to Poland involving a sprawling extended family, an inconvenient visit to the doctor, a birthday party, and — inevitably — kolędy for Christmastime.
Students will learn vocabulary and grammar through role-playing, games, and interactive exercises. The aim is to develop the language one might actually need while visiting Poland — or at least while surviving a particularly eventful Polish family gathering. Expect conversation, practical language, grammatical refinement, and the customary doses of humor, absurdity, and occasional libations.
The course will be taught by Ms. Natalia Stefańska, a native Polish speaker, Johns Hopkins University graduate student, and Polish folk dancer.

⚠️ No class on November 29th for Thanksgiving weekend
The semester will conclude on December 6th with a special workshop devoted to Poland’s beloved Christmas carols. Students will explore the history of several cherished kolędy and participate in a collaborative translation workshop.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who is the course for?
Learners of all levels! Beginners will receive foundational support, while returning students will continue expanding the Polish they have already learned.
What level is it?
This is a combined beginner and lower-intermediate course, roughly corresponding to CEFR levels A1–B1.
What if I am a complete beginner?
No prior knowledge of Polish is required. Being surrounded by a little more Polish than you understand is not a flaw in the method — it is part of the method.
What if I have taken the course before?
Returning students will reinforce prior learning, develop their communicative abilities, and encounter plenty of new material.
