Bengal Rescue Network

Bengal Rescue Network The Bengal Rescue Network (BRN) is a 501c3 organization of volunteers located across the U.S. and Canada who are active Bengal enthusiasts.

The Bengal Rescue Network (BRN) members truly care about the health, welfare and happiness of the Bengal breed. The “Network” on yahoo groups is a place for rescuers, foster caregivers, and adopters to exchange ideas, discuss needs, and assist in re-homing Bengal cats. To be part of the Network, the rescuers, foster caregivers and adopters agree that (1) all cats are vetted (as necessary or curr

ent records cannot be verified) and spayed/neutered before placement, and (2) cats are not regularly permitted to be adopted as “outside” pets. (Exceptions are handled on a case-by-case basis.) The Bengal Rescue Network is always in need of transporters, evaluators, and most importantly, long- & short-term foster homes. If you believe you are the right person to help, more information can be found by visting our website, www.bengalrescuenetwork.org, and selecting Volunteer from the menu.

Adopted

Back-story: Freya, a (estimated) 5- to 6-year old, front-declawed, spayed female bengal, was found as a stray and taken to the Lee County Animal Shelter (Ft. Myers, FL). Here’s what we know about Freya from her Great Lakes Bengal Rescue foster family:

Demeanor: Freya is a demure, good-natured, well-mannered lady. She is relatively docile and quiet as bengals go, crying only occasionally and at a low pitch. She is compliant when asked to get into a carrier, content when traveling in a car, and is easy to handle during vet visits.

As her trust of and confidence in her fosters has grown, Freya has become more relaxed, confident, and inquisitive. She now seeks out her humans for play and petting, happy to be the center of their attention.

Freya loves napping/sleeping beside her fosters (especially the “man of the house”). Her favorite pastime is sunbathing by a window. Her favorite toy is catnip-filled mice that squeak.

Health Status/Behavior: Freya is current on well check and vaccines; FeLV/FIV negative; and has had perfect litterbox usage. She entered foster care approximately 2 pounds underweight. Now tipping the scale at 8 pounds, Freya needs to gain another 1-1.5 pounds. Otherwise, she is healthy based on physical examinations by a veterinarian and current laboratory testing.

Inexplicably, Freya will not eat soft cat food. She is currently eating Hills EN kibble.

Freya gets along with one of the fosters’ cats, a gentle male who respects Freya’s boundaries. Through no fault of her own, Freya does not get along with the fosters’ assertive F2 female Bengal.

Her Ideal Forever Family:
• No young children.
• At least one family member that is retired or works from home.
• Only laid-back cats and/or dogs that will not be aggressive towards Freya and who will allow her to assimilate into the animal family at her own pace.

Freya had to fend for herself for an unknown period of time, during which she struggled just to survive. A loving family and a safe forever home for Freya is long overdue.

Hi this is Max he was born in 2021, he is strong, curious, and very vocal. He needs to be in an ONLY cat home. He needs someone who is experienced and patient. He enjoys being outside, is used to being on a harness and leash. If you have a catio or fenced in yard and time to spend outside with him he would be in love. He doesn't like to be held for very long but as he grows a relationship with you he will seek you out for attention and enjoy being in the same room with you. He LOVES getting brushed, but don't fall for his exposed belly trick. Recently treated for UTI, no other medications or special diets. He is able to free eat crunchy food, I feed him a wet food (has to be a broth) everyday at 6pm, he knows when dinner time is.

Luna - approximately 9 year old female spayed bengal kitty
Breeder: unknown
Weight: 9.5 lbs

Luna was deeply attached to her owner who recently passed away. She isn’t just a pet—she’s a companion in the truest sense. She followed her person from room to room, offered comfort day in and day out and shared in life’s quiet moments with gentle presence and affection. Like many Bengals, she’s intelligent, observant, and full of personality. What makes her extraordinary is her depth of feeling—she chooses her people carefully, and when she loves you, she loves you completely. She thrives in a calm, stable home where she can feel safe and build trust at her own pace.
She enjoys cozy spots by the window, watching birds at the bird feeders, or napping in a sunny spot. While she has a playful side, she’s equally content simply being near her person, sharing space and companionship. Because of her strong bond with her previous owner, she may take a little time to adjust—but for the right person, the reward will be immeasurable: a deeply loyal, affectionate companion who will form a bond that’s truly one of a kind. She’s looking for someone patient, kind, and understanding—someone who sees pets not just as animals, but as family.

Current diet: Purina pro plan wet and dry food (free feeds dry, 1/2 can per day wet)
Likes churu treats 1-2x/day; loves cooked chicken breast
No food allergies
Loves squeaking mouse on a string wand toys and cat nip
Would snuggle with my mother and also likes to burrow under blankets
Uses breeze system litter box (scoopable pellets on top - p*e pad in bottom)
Is declawed on front limbs, not known to scratch/swat, sometimes can bite in playful manner with a lot of cat nip
Self grooming
Not leash or harness trained
Mildly vocal - mostly revolving around meal times
Tolerates car rides fine

Only medical issue is longstanding stress/anxiety which she takes transdermal fluoxetine for once per/day - has been on this for ~2.5 years; is difficult to orally medicate consistently. Has had 1 or 2 ear infections in the last 6 years.

Likes to chew on plants if made available, will climb on tables/counters, does not love being carried but loves to climb up and snuggle on her own terms - will do this for hours.
Most ideal companion likely a woman though is fine with men just not snuggly, unknown around children.
Gets along with other cats - lived with 1-3 other cats at all times until ~1 year ago - really enjoys being an only cat and is less stressed as the only pet in the home
Has spent time living with a 50 lb older dog who visits a few times per year - both pets mind their own and seem unbothered

Update: Nala is still available! She is the sweetest girl. Her ideal home is an only pet or possibly a small dog that will ignore her. She may be ok with another cat that will ignore her. She wants attention from people and would love a family or someone home often to hang out with. Application with references required. Please let me know if you are interested.

6 yo Bengal needs a home. She was left outside when owners moved. We took her in, vetted her and thought about keeping her because she is soooo freaking affectionate and just wants to be with people, but doesn't like the other cats in our home. We know she lived with a small dog before and ignores our dogs if they ignore if but she does go after the cats. Bengal experience preferred. There will be a small adoption fee and references

Urgent - need a foster or foster with intent to adopt.

Updated info: The wound by his eye we believe came from the outdoors. Not blind.
Lived with kids. Fine with them.
The owner said at some point, he did live with other pets but not when he was surrendered. .
Our medical team put him on CD Stress Diet since he has a history of spraying when nervous. Also gabapentin to relax him some. He is unhappy in his cage.
When he is out of his cage he is looking for the door.
Recent blood work was all within normal limits.
Vax are up to date.
FIV/Felv negative.
Just rubs against you and is very affectionate. Loves to be pet.

Owner surrender due to divorce and moving.
Not happy in a cage. I think he was an indoor/outdoor cat. About 9-11 years old. Very sweet and affectionate

Don’t know who the breeder is.
