Taps for Veterans

Taps for Veterans Contact us: [email protected] Sounded every day in Veterans cemeteries around the world — a haunting but distinctive American melody.

Connecting volunteer buglers with families and organizations across America, bringing those 24 notes of Taps to life—notes that speak of gratitude, service, and love of country. Only 24 notes — but whose clear, sad tones conjure up memories of loved ones lost, instill hope, and bring comfort and peace to the families and communities of those whom have served with honor. It’s the song that gives us

a lump in our throats, and brings tears to our eyes…

Sadly, the legacy of Taps’ honorable performance is in jeopardy. TAPS FOR VETERANS provides an opportunity for buglers or trumpet players to sound Taps for military veteran’s funerals and ceremonies. With the military unable to provide live buglers for every military funeral and ceremony, TAPS FOR VETERANS is assisting to help provide that much needed service. TAPS FOR VETERANS is an organization led by former military musicians and active and retired military veterans who acutely understand the importance of properly sounding Taps, our “National Song of Remembrance” as a way of expressing the nation’s gratitude for a veteran’s service.

🇺🇸🎺 YOU DID IT!

After reviewing registrations and the many events held across the country in honor of Taps Across America, we are proud — and deeply humbled — to share that this was our biggest year yet.

More than 11,000 participants took part in this year’s national tribute.

From front porches and town greens to veterans’ memorials, cemeteries, shorelines, parks, and community gatherings across America — people paused to remember. They lifted their instruments, bowed their heads, and helped carry those sacred 24 notes across the nation.

This was more than an event.
It was a movement of remembrance.

To every musician, family, volunteer, community organization, veteran service group, partner, and supporter who helped make this possible — thank you.

Because of you, America paused.
Because of you, our fallen heroes were honored.
Because of you, the sound of Taps rose from coast to coast as one nation remembered.

250 Years. 24 Notes. One Nation.
We are grateful beyond words — and we are just getting started.

🎺 You do not have to be a veteran to honor one.

One of the most common questions we hear at Taps for Veterans is: “Do I need to have served in the military to volunteer?”

The answer is simple: No.

While many of our volunteers are veterans, many are not. They are musicians, students, teachers, retirees, community band members, Scout buglers, professional players, and everyday Americans who believe that a veteran’s final tribute should be sounded live, with dignity and care.

At Taps for Veterans, our mission is rooted in service — but it is open to anyone with the heart to serve.

If you can sound Taps with reverence, respect, and purpose, there is a place for you in this mission.

Because those 24 notes are more than music.

They are gratitude. They are remembrance.
They are a final promise kept.

Join us. Help us ensure every veteran receives the live sounding of Taps they deserve.

24 Notes. One Final Promise. 🎺🇺🇸

Without your help, we cannot succeed.
With your help, we cannot fail.

As we reflect and regroup after a long Memorial Day weekend, we want to offer our sincere gratitude to every Taps for Veterans volunteer who gave their time, their talent, and their heart in service to our mission.

Whether you sounded those 24 notes on a quiet street corner, in a cemetery, at a memorial, or before a gathering of family and friends — you made a difference.

You reminded America that remembrance is not just something we say. It is something we do.

And through the live sounding of Taps, you helped ensure that our fallen and our veterans were honored with dignity, reverence, and the respect they earned.

But as President Abraham Lincoln once said, “Let us strive on to finish the work we are in.”

And so, our mission continues.

Every day, families across the country are requesting a live sounding of Taps to honor a loved one who served. That is why Taps for Veterans exists — to make sure no veteran’s final farewell is met with silence or a recording, but with the solemn, human tribute of live Taps.

We need your help to carry this promise forward.

If you are a bugler or trumpeter, please consider volunteering with Taps for Veterans.

Memorial Day may be behind us on the calendar, but our duty to remember must never fade.

For the families who have said goodbye…
For the veterans who stood watch for our nation…
For the heroes whose stories live on in folded flags, quiet cemeteries, and grateful hearts…

Our mission continues.

At Taps for Veterans, we believe every veteran deserves the dignity of a live sounding of Taps — not just on Memorial Day, but every day a final farewell is needed.

Because those 24 notes are more than music. 🎶They are gratitude. They are remembrance. They are a final salute. 24 Notes. ☝️ One Final Promise.

Help us keep that promise alive.

Let us remember what Memorial Day truly is.

It is not a celebration. It is a sacred pause.

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that our freedom was bought with the lives of men and women who wore the uniform — and never came home. Behind every flag, every folded uniform, every name etched in stone, there is a story. A family. A sacrifice. A final act of service to this nation.

As you see the flag flying…
As you place flowers at a grave…
As you hear those 24 notes of Taps rise into the air…
Remember why this day matters.

President Calvin Coolidge once said:
“No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave.”

This Memorial Day, let us pause not simply to enjoy our freedom, but to remember those who made it possible.

We are free because of the brave. Let us never forget. 🇺🇸
