Mental health isn’t optional… it’s essential 💚

As we approach Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to remind every young person we serve that your mental health matters. It’s okay to not be okay sometimes, but it’s not okay to ignore what you’re feeling.

At SON, we create a safe space where youth can openly express themselves, feel seen, and begin the healing process.

✨ Understand how trauma impacts your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors
✨ Learn healthy coping mechanisms that actually work
✨ Build confidence, resilience, and emotional strength
✨ Connect with a supportive community that truly cares

Healing starts with awareness. Growth comes with support.

You are not alone. You are heard. You matter.

Over the past few weeks, our team at Edmondson High School has been committed to showing up and pouring into our youth through our support group. Together, we’ve been doing the deep work… breaking cycles of generational trauma by first identifying the roots, then intentionally planting new seeds for growth 🌱

Our students are learning the importance of understanding their experiences, managing their emotions, and replacing pain with positive, empowering thoughts. This work matters, especially during the high school years when so much is still being shaped.

As we approach the end of the school year, we are incredibly proud and excited to witness the growth, strength, and resilience in each participant đź’™

The healing continues. The seeds are planted. The future is brighter.

Thank you for the continued partnership💙💙

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working closely with our youth at SON Organization, creating safe spaces to understand the impact of generational trauma and what it truly means to break those cycles 💙

Yesterday, our teens took a powerful step forward. Through creativity and reflection, they each created their own “Generational Trauma Tree” 🌳. This allowed them to open up about past experiences, present struggles, and patterns within their families that have continued over time.

These conversations aren’t always easy, but they are necessary. Understanding generational trauma is the first step toward healing, growth, and change. When our youth can identify these cycles, they begin to realize they have the power to rewrite their story ✨

At SON, we remain committed to providing tools, support, and safe environments where healing can begin and transformation can take place 🤝🏽

Because awareness leads to change. And change creates legacy đź’«

Business Plan + Strategy + Ex*****on = Success đź’™

That’s not just a formula. It’s a mindset we teach every single day.

At SON, we are more than a nonprofit. We are a safe space where youth are empowered to think bigger, move smarter, and believe deeper. A space where they are challenged to push past limits, rise above obstacles, and understand that every setback can produce a powerful outcome.

Financial literacy is personal for me. Growing up in Baltimore and now serving our city’s youth, I’ve seen what happens when our communities are underexposed to financial education. Too many of our young people are taught how to survive, but not how to build. Too many are taught how to hustle, but not how to structure wealth.

That’s why this work matters.

đź’™ Why Financial Literacy Matters in Baltimore City:

• 💰 Teaches ownership over income, not just earning it
• 📊 Builds confidence in budgeting, saving, and investing
• 🏦 Breaks generational cycles of financial instability
• 🧠 Encourages long-term thinking over short-term decisions
• 🏡 Opens doors to entrepreneurship, homeownership, and legacy building

We teach our youth that money is a tool. A tool to create options. A tool to build stability. A tool to serve their families and communities with strength.

In a city that has faced systemic barriers and economic disparities, financial education is empowerment. It gives our young people the blueprint to build businesses, purchase property, create digital income streams, and make informed decisions that shift their future.

We remind them:

✨ Your environment does not define your ending.
✨ Every obstacle has an outcome.
✨ With the right plan, strategy, and ex*****on, success is possible.

Baltimore’s youth are resilient, brilliant, and full of potential. When we combine safe spaces, mentorship, trauma-informed support, and financial literacy education, we don’t just change bank accounts. We change mindsets. We change trajectories. We build legacy.

And that is the mission đź’™

This week, SON Organization had the honor of co-hosting a Galentine’s Day experience at Edmondson-Westside High School, centered on self-love, self-expression, and sisterhood. 💕📓 Our young ladies were gifted personalized self-love journals and encouraged to reflect, speak freely, and uplift one another in a space rooted in care and understanding.

Every Tuesday, our peer support groups provide a safe, consistent space where youth can open up, be heard, and receive the love, guidance, and encouragement they deserve. These sessions are impactful and intentional, focusing on trauma support, violence intervention, mentorship, leadership development, and healing through connection.

Self-love is not a luxury. It is a foundation. When young people feel seen, supported, and valued, they are empowered to stay on the right path and become the leaders they are meant to be. We are proud to walk alongside our youth as they grow, heal, and rise. 💛✨

Thank you for trusting us to be a part of this great partnership working with these amazing young ladies.

As we close out 2025, we reflect with gratitude, resilience, and pride. This year came with challenges. Limited funding, partnership hurdles, and personal obstacles. Yet through every test, we pushed forward with purpose and never lost sight of our mission.

Because of the unwavering support of our committed community partners, leaders, and supporters, SON Organization continued to expand its reach and impact across Baltimore City. Together, we showed up for our youth and young adults in powerful ways.

🚀 Looking Ahead to 2026
We are beyond excited to introduce our Intro to AI Program for Teens, designed to expose young people to innovation, technology, and future-ready skills. This next chapter represents growth, evolution, and opportunity.

Thank you to everyone who stood with us, believed in the vision, and helped us overcome every obstacle. The work continues, and the future is bright.

Here’s to growth, impact, and purpose in 2026. 💙

The best thing you can teach young adults is how to be Financially stable. Our Financial Literacy program starts with the basics. These young men will not only understand budgeting, banking, credit and finances; they will learn about real estate, investing, and business ownership🤗💙

They have been working hard over the past few weeks and we still have a couple more months to go.

💙 Honoring Men’s Mental Health Month
Last month at , in recognition of Men’s Mental Health Month, we dedicated two powerful group sessions exclusively for men. These sessions focused on workforce development, resume building, and—most importantly—identifying healthy coping skills to navigate past trauma.

We created a space where they could learn how to channel their emotions in positive ways, speak openly, and feel supported. The conversations were enlightening, the energy was uplifting, and the growth was undeniable. 💪🏽✨

At SON Organization, we encourage, we inspire, and we support.
Every young man deserves the tools to rise above his circumstances and build a future he is proud of.

🎨 Color Your Mood Activity Recap
Recap from our group with where youth explored how colors connect to emotions through a hands-on mood-board activity. Each participant selected a color that represented their current mood and searched through magazines to find images, objects, and designs that matched how they were feeling. The final result? A powerful collective mood board filled with honesty, creativity, and expression. 💛💙❤️💚

Activities like this help our young people learn to identify their emotions, understand their triggers, and build healthy ways to respond when they’re not in a good space. This is all part of creating safe spaces where youth can grow, express themselves, and recognize that their feelings matter.

At SON Organization, we’re committed to helping youth navigate the impacts of trauma with confidence, self-awareness, and support. 🖤✨
