Advocacy works.

Last year, our community showed up and made its voice heard. We secured a 2.7% Targeted Inflationary Increase (TII), and the average Direct Support Professional (DSP) starting wages rose 2.6%, bringing it to $19.03.

Investments help provide more consistent care, keep experienced staff on the job, and strengthen services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

Last week, Rae Cangelosi, Assistant Director of Family & Community Support, donated several Carter Kits on behalf of The Arc Columbia-Saratoga to Saratoga Springs Professional Fire Fighters Local 343 Station 3.

Carter Kits are sensory bags designed for first responders that are clinically proven to comfort and appropriately focus children on the Autism Spectrum, as well as other children impacted by traumatic events.

Inside each kit are a pair of noise-cancelling earmuffs, sunglasses, a weighted blanket, a box of several sensory toys, non-verbal communication cards, and picture charts.

This donation to Station 3 was made possible thanks to the support of sponsors and vendors at the 2026 Autism Expo & Resource Fair. Join The Arc Columbia-Saratoga as we continue to raise awareness and support for the Autism Community at our 2027 Autism Expo on April 11th.
