I would like to take the time to congratulate one of our very own. When I met Rob he was retired but always had the passion of cooking. He would always talk about smoking ribs at his house and doing all kinds of cooking. A few months ago he talked about buying a food trailer and opening it up because it’s what he loves to do. His dream finally came true and we couldn’t be more proud of him. We know he’s going to do great things. Y’all go give Firestation Feast's a like and follow.

🚒🔥 LEROY/AXTELL VFD UPDATE 🔥🚒

Your Leroy/Axtell Volunteer Fire Department sent a crew out last night to assist with the Hydra Fire.

Our crew left the station around 8:00 PM last night and returned safely to the station around 7:30 AM this morning.

These men and women worked throughout the night, giving some of the other crews a much-needed relief break while working hard to help contain the fire. We are incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work they put in to serve our community and surrounding areas. ❤️

Please continue to keep everyone involved with this fire in your prayers, as the fire is still growing and crews continue to work.

Thank you to all of our firefighters for everything you do, and thank you to the families who support them while they’re out serving others. 🙏🏼

🚨🚨 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚨🚨

With approval from the county, we will be closing portions of South 9th Street this evening for tonight’s home football game.

🚒 Fire trucks will be blocking the road at both locations marked in red from approximately 5:30 PM until 10:00 PM.

There will still be access to the visitor parking lot and the Ag Barn. If you need to access the Ag Barn, please plan to go around the road closure.

⚠️ This road closure will take place every Friday night during home football games. I will send out a reminder each Friday when the closure is in effect.

Today, your Leroy/Axtell VFD assisted Bellmead and multiple other agencies on a huge fire. At one point, multiple mobile homes, vehicles, sheds, and RVs were all on fire.

Thanks to the hard work and teamwork of everyone on scene, we were able to get the fire knocked down and under control in a timely manner. We are extremely grateful for all of the departments and firefighters who came together today to help.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost so much today.

Driving thru Waco this weekend? I wouldn't... 🚧

TxDOT will be closing all lanes of I-35 in Waco this weekend, starting Friday night at midnight until Sunday morning. This is part of the ongoing construction between downtown and New Road. Be prepared for very, very long delays and detours. It's going to be a mess! Make sure you share this with your friends and family so they can avoid the interstate.

Per the Commissioners Court, a Burn Ban is in effect for McLennan County - effective immediately (8/4/26), until further notice. A copy of the resolution will be sent to all department chiefs by EOD, and it will be posted on social media upon receipt.

🚨 Leroy/Axtell Community – We Need Your Help 🚨

It’s not often that we ask our community for help, but today we’re asking everyone to come together for the Leroy/Axtell Volunteer Fire Department.

Right now, 3 of our fire trucks are out of service. Today, one of our trucks broke down while leaving a call and had to be towed back to the station. To make matters worse, just a few weeks ago we spent thousands of dollars repairing the brake system on one of our engines, and now we’re facing even more unexpected repairs.

Our volunteers continue to answer every call they can, but the reality is that our ability to respond is being impacted.

When you call 911 (tel:911), you expect help to be on the way. We want to make sure we can continue to be there for our neighbors, families, and community when you need us most.

If you’ve ever wondered how you could support your local volunteer fire department, now is the time. Whether it’s a monetary donation, sponsoring repairs, or simply sharing this post, every bit of support helps us get our trucks back on the road where they belong.

Our firefighters volunteer their time, leave their families, and answer calls at all hours of the day and night. They don’t hesitate when someone needs help, and today we’re asking our community not to hesitate in helping them.
