Sometimes the greatest trophy isn’t the animal you harvest. It’s the character you show when you choose not to pull the trigger.

Today, Grayson taught me a lesson I’ll never forget.
A giant deer stepped out in front of us. The kind of deer most hunters dream about.
But Grayson wasn’t comfortable with the shot.
So he lowered his gun.

Think about that for a minute.
Here’s a young man with the deer of a lifetime standing in front of him, and he had the maturity, patience, and self-control to say, “I’m not comfortable taking that shot.”

That’s not easy for a kid to do. Heck, that’s not easy for a grown man to do!
He could’ve taken a chance. He could’ve rushed the shot. But he didn’t.
And I couldn’t have been prouder of him.

We figured our hunt was over. The opportunity had come and gone.
But God wasn’t finished writing Grayson’s story.

A little while later, some hogs stepped out. This time, Grayson was comfortable. He settled in, made the shot, and harvested his first hog!
Now, to some folks, it’s just a pig.
But to Grayson, it was the hunt of a lifetime.
And to me, it was so much more than a hunt.

There was a time when doctors didn’t think this young man would ever walk again. There was a time when his family didn’t know if he’d ever wake up.
But he did.
He woke up. He walked. He talked.
And today, I had the privilege of walking beside him.

Let that sink in.
There was a time when they didn’t think Grayson would ever walk again. And today, God allowed me to walk beside him.

I don’t know why God continues to give me opportunities like this, but I promise you, I don’t take a single one for granted.

We didn’t bring home that giant buck today.
But we brought home something far more valuable.
A memory. A lesson in character. A young man’s confidence. And another reminder that God’s blessings don’t always look like what we went looking for.

At JMB, we’re still hunting and fishing. We’re just not chasing trophies anymore.
We’re chasing opportunities to change lives.
And sometimes, the life that gets changed the most is mine.
Thank you, Lord, for letting me walk beside Grayson today.

What an UNBELIEVABLE weekend in Port Aransas with some pretty amazing young people!
There were a whole lot of firsts this weekend.
First boat rides.
First fish.
First time fishing in the ocean.
But some of the biggest firsts had absolutely nothing to do with fishing.
For some, it was the first time they truly understood what it felt like to belong. To be included. To be encouraged. To feel like they were part of a family.
And folks, that’s worth more than every fish we caught!

That’s what JMB Fishing Foundation is all about.
We aren’t just taking kids fishing. We’re building relationships, creating memories, showing them a better way, and reminding them that their past doesn’t have to determine their future.
And here’s something I want every one of our supporters to understand. YOU are part of these stories!
Every donation, every sponsorship, every prayer and every person who believes in what we’re doing helps make weekends like this possible.
We couldn’t do this without you.
You may never meet some of these kids, but I promise you, your generosity is making a difference in their lives.
We’re still fishing. Just not for trophies anymore. We’re fishing for people.
And this weekend, we caught a whole lot more than fish.
Thank you for helping us change lives, one kid at a time.
